What 18" wheels can do to your wiring harness. Ouch!

I,m sure there are people that are running 18 without any problems but here is a little reminder of what can happen if you run big wheels and slam your car, eventually you will eat your fender liner out and chew up you wiring.

I was at Deals gap 2 weeks ago, with a buddy in the passenger seat, with all the twisties I think it was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back by creating just enough weight on the passenger side to eat through something and make my PFC act up and not be able to start after we gassed up.
(Thanks Goodfella,Ihor and others for help to get it home)

255/35s on 18s aren't really bigger than stock. The problem is the car is too low for the spring rate.

i had 18" rims on my last FD.

however with a low profile tire the diameter was the exact same as the stock rim/tire diamater - so no rubbing

Yes,I think it was my R compounds that did a lot of the damage, running a 275/35 up front is slightly taller.

Question?
I,m lookijng at the harness, lucky for me the larger harness is untouched, but the smaller one with 2 wires is damaged,is that the harness for the fan relay?

I helped someone with the same problem. The car would run fine w/a new MAP sensor, drive it and turn right (pushes left wheel up) and the car would die killing the MAP sensor.

I looked in the left fender well and sure enough the harness looked like yours...

A few well place tie wraps around the harness will keep it out of harms way no matter how low the car is.

Airbag sensor I believe. The airbag harness has blue casing, but one of the front sensors has a long extension harness that is black. If I'm correct (and I'm not always), you could fix it by just replacing the sensor.

Cool,I will check the wiring harness diagram when I get back home.

I feel lucky though, Ray crowe quoted me $2000 for the harness that basically wraps around the front fenders and that looks fine.
Makes the $750 for the engine harness seem cheap, sort of.

I may get lucky a fellow rotorhead I know is going 3 rotor and now he is in the poor house might sell it cheap to me hint hint,Bobby, cough.

I,m pulling the motor this week Ive decided, may as well get it all fixed once and for all.Pizza all round.

Here is a shot of the F harness on my car under construction. I removed all of the wires related to the ECU and cooling fans. The harness with the black plastic case and blue connetor is the airbag sensor cable I was referring to above. As you can see it goes all the way over the wheel well. There are a lot of important wires in the larger harness that runs parallel with the airbag sensor wiring (such as the ignition channels from the ECU). If you are having engine problems you may have also damaged that.
