what is this?

what is the sensor under the thermoswitch on the water pump housing?

it's a one wire sensor, what is it for?

I am not really pituring it right now but the only thing I can think of that is a one wire sensor on the thermostat housing is the "Coolant Level Sensor" would be my guess without seeing a pic.

isn't the level sensor in front of the housing? there is one about one inch under the thermoswtich behing the housing.

THE SENSOR ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING IS THE THERMOSWITCH THAT TURNS THE FANS ON AT A PRESET TEMP. CHANGE IT TO A MIATA SENSOR IT KICKS THE FANS ON AT A LOWER TEMP. REALLY HELPS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.

and... there is a temp sensor on the back side od the T-stat housing for the ECU. This is the one the Power FC displays the coolant temp from.

The temp sensor for the dash gauge is on the drivers (US model) side of the rear end housing.

the connector broke, i suppose this is an important sensor, isn't it?

by the way, there was none of these on the japenese engine in 1997 at least, i have a T-stat housing from a JDM engine and it's not there

It is the coolant sensor. I had to buy a new one. I know for a fact. One for the fd is $50 and the FC is $12 and will work but you will have to splice the wire

Where did you get yours for $50...I got mine coolant level sensor for $75 form a loca Mazda dealer
