Went to jail due to my loud ass car!!
Dude, the reason you went to jail for loud exhaust is probably because of DWB (Drive While Black) or DWH (Driving While Hispanic).
I had a Puerto Rican friend who was nailed for DWH. Wen to court to figh all charges (reckless, evading police etc..) and guess what? The D.C. Park Police with badge No. 123 was replaced by a D.C. Metro Police with the same badge no. Two different agencies and two different cops!!
I told my friend, WTF???? You've got a constitutional right to face your accuser and this ain't the cop that arrested you. This is the first time I've seen a bait and switch by cops.
The judge hem and hawed but then after hearing words of appeal and constitution threw it out.

I have DP, resonated MP and Pettit single tip CB(I think their older one, w/ turbo tuff muffler). It is quiet. Too quiet in my opinion.
I dont always want to chime in, but I guess I am the devils advocate on this forum when it comes to cops.
Only the original poster was there when this happened. We have an abridged version from him what happened. There is the other side. I am not trying to say something happened or did not happened. All, I know is I deal w/ problems everyday. Just when I go talk to one party and think to myself, damn the other guy is at fault, going to get arrested or whatever, I go talk to the other party and my opinion or course of action now has changed. I know lots of people like to side with the only side they heard and especially because there is already a negative perception of the unheard side. This is not to say the officer was right; I dont know him and there are lots of ******** out there. But usually people like to adapt their story to make them the victim, just human nature. Plus, what did the police perceive????
Also, to the DWB comment(I have to deal w/ this all the time), really, I have to admit, that if I see a young person in a hotrod, I am going to take notice. Lots of teens, like to hot dog it around(ha, hotdog it) and especially if they have some power in their wheels. I see this all the time. Its the nature of being young and full of testosterone. Most accidents are caused by teens and senior citizens. Thats just the facts. And judging by a recent poll here of owners ages, we have lots of younger owners. I dont see too many of the older owners posting about being pulled over, kind of follows my statement above. But, it happens. Just younger people in hotrods are noticed more. So, I guess it might be DWYIHR(driving while young in hotrod).
And the talk of guns being drawn for imminent danger, ha, come to Oakland and see the barrell of a law enforcement firearm up close and personal.
Its a way of police life out here.
But yes, most places have written memos about when a weapon can be drawn. And, again, we dont have the other side of the story. Its all about perception. i was not there, plus I was not standing in the officers shoes or, the victims for that matter.

I wonder what is the difference between our setups? Maybe rear camber? I run -1.1 degrees in the rear, what is yours set to? Do you have significantly different tire sizes in the back? Are you sure you are making 300 RWHP? Or maybe you only meant the higher gears...in the wet I never break loose in 3rd? Just curious....

The Dunlops(245-45-16) came with the set of extra rims I bought. They are good if you see a little snow. Plus they are fairly new and I thought I'd get some use out of them. The Firestones SZ-50's(225-50-16) aren't all-season. They are uni-directional. I bought them after looking at their high survey rankings on www.tirerack.com . After having the them for awhile I'd wish I spent the extra money for the SO2's.
Anyway, my question is still which will spin without noise? Do I need Yoko A032's, Toyo RA-1, or Kumo Victor Racers? Will the SO2/3 or BFG Kforce squeal?

Thanks Officer Nice. I wondered what I looked like when I got on my car. It must have looked "agressive" to the officer. Honest truth is that I was just trying to pass not to get cut off. That's the problem with a fast car. If I'd had a Hyundai I would have to back off since I wouldn't have the speed to pass.
PS: I'm one of the 'old' people on this forum. I guess my testosterone level is still high.
I hope to be spinning wheels into my 90's
And yes the Harley thing pisses me off. Start arresting these people too...

I think it is more important to learn good throttle modulation for the conditions.
There is no point in tire spin unless you want to impress the kiddies, it is wasted energy.
I guess I just need stickier tires. I wasn't trying to spin (get damaging wheel hop). Problem is that the road is smooth and is a little bumpy where I was. Very easy to spin, especially when the 2nd turbo comes on...
Be warned that stickier tires will pick up road sand/gravel and sandblast the areas behind your tires down to bare metal if used alot. Even the PPs will do this.
If you can't control wheel spin for conditions you aren't trying

If the pavement is the least bit dirty forget about it. My venue of choice is a road course where poor throttle modulation makes you end up facing the wrong way. If I'm not making ~300rwhp @12PSI with my setup I sure wasted some money and dyno time at KDR. Note that Jimlab is putting PPs on his monster.

Of course, with proper throttle modulation, you can avoid wheelspin regardless of what tire you have on the car...your total rate of acceleration may be reduced with a less sticky tire, but you can still drive it without wheelspin. Basically I assumed you meant WOT because to say "I get no wheelspin with proper throttle modulation" has nothing to do with the tire really...it just means that you know how to drive your car. Perhaps you were just trying to say something like "The PPs have really good grip, even in the wet"?
Modulation is a little difficult with a sticking throttle, light flywheel, and of course the 2nd turbo 100hp kick shown on most FD sequential dynos, along with slippery pavement.
Given "Proper Modulation" which tires fitting the stock wheels allow you to put the most power to the pavement without wheelspin or squealing? Also, some tires have more gradual break-away characteristics. As soon as I lose traction I get tons of spin. Maybe a stickier tire will allow me to detect the onset of spinning before it gets out of control.
I think I'm hijacking this thread. I should start another for my specific problem...

Trust me, it's hard to get the badge number (they make it longer than a telephone number) by just looking at the badge let alone ask the cop for it and have him write it down. I mean, they are there threatening you to prison or an *** beating. That's the way it is I guess.
For sound wise, get the XR1 in the midpipe and/or get a quieter catback like M2 or RB.

Being hauled off to jail seems a bit extreme for that situation unless there are other reasons which you aren't disclosing. But if this is the case that you were injustifiably arrested you can still place a complaint with your local PD and the DA.

Damn, I don't get it....you run a loud exhaust you get busted and cry because you don't see the Harley guy's getting a ticket. I have a Harley and have seen plenty of guy's get tickets on there bikes if they are acting like jackasses on them. (spinning the tires, fast agressive moves through traffic, wide open throttle in lower gears) all the kinds of things cops look for in an agressive driver/rider. Even a racing beat cat back is loud on WOT though it doesn't sound that way in the car. Same with the Harley (not near as loud to the rider as it is to everyone else, I'm guessing it's the same for those guys with the thumpping stereo's as they anoy me more than anything on the road (and they give tickets for that too)...My .02 would be get a Harley and see if they don't get tickets too, make your's quiet and quit crying because you got caught .

Anyway, I love my car and I'll just quiet it down.

i had dp & mp with rb dual and it was perfect at idle and WOT.
now i am going with www.powertone.com and it sounds even better with a deeeep and throaty sound
