Went to jail due to my loud *** car!!
I got pulled over Friday by HPD and.....uh....went to jail. I won't discuss why I went downtown, but they said that they pulled me over initially for excessive acceleration or some bs like that. I took off from a light and nailed it pretty good...probably barely broke the speed limit though! BUT my damn car is LOUD! Especially at WOT. I have DP, MP and PFS exhaust.
My wife wants me to sell the car. I said NO. So she asked me to quiet it down.
Does a resonated MP make that big of a difference or do I need to go with a different muffler, or both???
I do not want to put my Airpump back on so NO cat is required.
Advice.
(I feel some smart *** responses com'in )

I just got rid of my n1 dual cause it was way too loud. I put on a m2 dual tip catback and the thing is awsome. Very quiet now, has a great tone but still has some noise to let you know it has power. I'd go with that or the racing beat dual, both sound and look about the same.

Well, you get a midpipe, that's what you can expect. Sorry to hear about it, but if you don't know the laws in your area, that's the chance you take.
However, I've heard that resonated midpipes do make a difference. You might look at getting a resonated mp and something like Racing Beat or M2 Dual tip catback. Either of those dual tip catbacks should help quiet the car as well as keep good performance.

No SpooledUp7 I have never been on one. But I hear a HD go by my house about 8-10 times daily and they are MUCH louder then myself. I have personally never seen or even heard of a HD getting pulled over. Cops seem to ignore them when it comes to their noise levels but are happy to dish out a warning to an RX7 with a silencer in it... At least around my area.

It must have REALLY annoyed the cops (three cars), cause one of them had his gun drawn at my face! He was this...."short man's syndrome" bastard with a serious attitude. I had no warrants or priors and this little Napolean thought I was gonna start sprayin bullets or something!
Anyway, I love my car and I'll just quiet it down.

from what i believe the law is in CA, bikes do not have the same rights as cars. well i should say, cars dont have the same rights as bikes. it is illegal to put something on that is too loud, but i know that it is more leniant to bikes. could just be the jackass of cops though.

I'm guessing this was Friday night this happen on - let me guess - Westhiemer or the surrounding area. Reason number one not to go out there - cops have zero tolerance, especially the weekend. Have not been out there in ages, cause I like to keep my booty hole to myself hehe.

My friend runs a resonated midpipe on his car with dp and n1 catback, and its still loud as hell, he runs non-sequential though. Mine is loud too without a resonated midpipe, but the cops here are a lot more lax, most of them like looking at cars like ours. Glad i live on the east coast.
I would go with a different catback or find/make a silencer for the one you have while you ride around down... (at the expense of horsepower )

I've got a DP, MP, PFS catback and a Borla 16 inch XR1 Race. I ran the car with just the midpipe for a few runs before putting the brola on, so i could see the difference. The borla does a great job of quieting it down. i ordered mine from summit for around $130 or so, and cost $10 for the weld.

were you threathening in anyway? did you have a weapon in your car? where you resisting? If not the cop could get in SERIOUS trouble!! ie arrested, fined and thrown off the force. Theonly reason an officer id allowed to draw his weapon is if he feels leathal force COULD be justified in that situation otherwise the gun must remain in it holster. Cops can't just go around waiving thier guns, also if you are in cuffs, no guns drwan. YYMV from state to state (although I am pretty sure this is nationwide)

I just got pulled over for Agressive Driving in Delaware. I don't think it was my exhaust (RB dual, stock cat) but the fact that the car spins\squeals whenever the turbos kick in. Damn, anyone know which tires will spin less without noise? Maybe I need competition tires. All I was doing was trying not to get cut off. Just gave it some gas and off I went. Damn car is "agressive" anytime I get on the gas.
Any tire suggestions for keeping the spinning noise to a minimum?

I use Bridgestone S-02 (now S-03) pole positions on the street.
With ~300rwhp I rarely ever get wheel spin, even in the wet. Of course if the pavement is real smooth or turning it will break loose.
Wrapping the downpipe will quiet the turbo whine.

Both my Dunlop 4000's A/S and Firestone Firehawlk SZ50's are squeal-happy. I was thinking about running comp tires on the street or going with SO3 or G-Force. I don't drive that many miles so I don't care about the tread life. Can I get quiet spinning without going to comp tires?

Ok, this is where you get his badge number and you goto the precinct(sp?). File a formal complaint on him. If the chief doesn't set his *** straight then goto the local DA.
For sound wise, get the XR1 in the midpipe and/or get a quieter catback like M2 or RB.
