Weird speedo problem

I got this problem each time the car is hot, a while after reaching full temperature. Slowly dropping until it reaches rock solid 0. If I stop the car for example 1 hour, it will be okay only for a few minutes. When the car is cool, no problem at all.

Can you help me?

I'm not sure the problem is with the cluster itself... I've been having this intermittent problem for a while now. The car was sitting in the garage since June 2014, when I took it back last week it had these next problems with the speedometer. By the way, the battery was still fully charged and plugged when I started the car for the first time, I did not touch anything under the hood before starting it.

*I unplugged the wideband but it did the same exact thing than the RPM/speedo gauges (loses power in the same time).*

OCTOBER 4th

OCTOBER 6th, only in the morning (hear that buzzer?)

OCTOBER 7th, both needles are at solid zero, everytime.

I always had problem with my horn being quiet, and now that both needles are at zero and the wideband unplugged, the horn is much louder. Really.
No symptom regarding to the mechanic, still pull hards without any problem.

Should I add some grounds?

I don't think it's a problem with the cluster either.

I did straight 600 kms today

First 300 kms: nothing at all, both needles dead.
300-500 kms: intermittent problem.
500 kms-now: cluster runs perfect.

I think it might be a problem with a transmission sensor?

My speedo reads 80 plus when I'm going 60. I think it's the speedo sensor on the transmission. My car has been sitting for four years I guess I should take the cover off and fix it.

Well I guess it'll be my winter project to find the problem...

Do you still have the stock JDM 0-180 km/h cluster?

Okay I'm looking for a cluster repair shop right now. I went to a local electronic shop and they told me I should buy a JDM 0-180 km/h cluster (cheaper) and they would simply swap the circuit board (and the odometer's screen).

Odometer's screen has always been like that but it worked fine when I bought it in 2008, now it doesn't work anymore (light works, but no numbers).

... you guys think it's possible to swap only the circuit board? What about the odometer's screen?

The best thing would be to buy another 180KMH cluster.

Then, following DALE CLARK's write up on this site, remove the speedometer from your original board. Then you can swap your MILEAGE chip from your original speedo board to the new one.

Swap the speedo motor/face to the new one. That way you will not have to deal with your melted odometer.

Then you should be set!
