weird shifter problem
hey every1,
Heres whats up with my car. Before the RX7 Revolution, my car would only grind 5th if you went straight from 3rd. However, when i dragged it @ the revolution, i went back to get it an hour later, and the tranny was damn near frozen, took aboue 3min of warming up and a lot of effort to get it in any gear, and now it grinds in 5th no matter what, but its just a short grind @ the beginning of the throw. I have yet to put on the short shifter in my sig. Any ideas on what happened?

mine did the same thing last fall. I ended up rebuilding 5th gear. the problem is the spindel select assembly needs to be replaced because the spring is not heavy enough and you can shift from 2nd to 5th, witch kills 5th synchro. that is why many fd have 5th gear problems. the parts are around 325.00 w/o labor I have all the part # 's if you need them

325 dollars!?
Where the heck did you buy your parts? I did mine myself last winter and paid about 100 dollars total for the new synchro, the updated shift select spring, new snap ring, new roll pins, new bearing, and new bolt on the shaft.
Talk to Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda 888 533 3400 and see what he can hook you up with.
