Weird idle while in gear(maybe electrical related)

FYI, I've had a new reman in for about a year w/ only your basic reliability mods and basic maintenence done to it. But I've always had this electrical problem where I've got to turn the key a couple of times to get the FD to start. For example I gotta turn the FD on everyday for to keep the battery charged.

Anyways, it just started tonight. If I'm in neutral (radio on, lights on, fan on) the idle is fine. But if I'm at a stoplight and I put it in gear, the idle will bounce around 1k almost to it dying out, and my boost gauge will show it bounce around 15 and 22vac.

Is this an electrical related problem? I asked my 'ol man and he said that in neutral the engine is disengaged and the alternator is just runnin' everything. But when I put it in gear, the engine will take over anything and its taking a lot out of it.

Don't know exactly whats wrong so I'm asking you guys. Probably gunna bring it to a shop that specializes in eletrical problems. Any help from you guys would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey guys. It's definitely not the battery. I've had 2 new batteries already. Both optima. Do you guys think it maybe my grounding? The FD's not gunna start anymore. I'm gunna need a jump :-(

I think it may be your wiring also. It maybe be the starter/starter relay cable that goes to the battery. Im not familiar with FD's so I dont know exactly where it connects, but for awhile now my 3000gt has had a battery draining problem and I had to replace the BOTH battery cables to get a better connection.

^Thanks, I'll see if that maybe the problem. The starter was rechecked and it definitely ain't ithe problem. The shop I brought it too was cool enough to let me borrow a spare battery for the time being until we could pin point the problem. I give this battery 2 or 3 days before its starts getting drained :-(

have you replaced the two clutch switches? i believe if one goes bad, it can cause a problem like you describe. i think the two of them combined are about $100 shipped from malloy mazda. probably the easiest and cheapest thing to attack first.
