Unhappy Weird battery drain and clicking

I've covered the seven and garaged it for the winter because it needs a new clutch and tires and this weird problem.

I went to start it one last time and i got nothing. My PFC screen wouldn't display no lights, even the dinging noise was quieter.
Battery had 5v. I hooked up my charger and everything came on but there was a weird clicking sound coming from the engine bay, driver side near the firewall. by the time i had gotten around to see where it was coming from it had slowed and stopped. Go back to the battery and its dead again AND the charger is drained.
Any ideas? I checked the battery connections and everything seems to be squared away there. What could cause the drain?

thanks!

I have had similar problems with a bad battery. When voltage gets low it is possible for some electrical components to make clicking noises (solenoids in particular). I would have your battery checked out first. If that is OK, check for corrosion on all primary connections, battery, alternator and starter. If that is OK, I would check out the charging system.

I had the same porblem, but my clicking wasa coming from the passenger side. The previous owner grounded the 4th relay or something and caused the fans to stay on 10 min after the car was off. Everytime i disconeccted my battery, i heard the click.

make sure your distributor isnt getting wet or oil inerfering w/ the connection. My friends mustang, if it rains, his distributor gets wet, and he cant drive it for a day or untill we blow dry the water away.

I had a similar battery drain. I don't know which mod caused it (fan mod, turbo timer, etc) , but it got really frustrating. I solved it by using a kill switch. Anytime the car is going to sit for more than a few hours, I kill the electrical system at the battery (relocated to bins--so I don't need to pop the hood). Doesn't hurt a thing except my trip meter and I don't kill the expensive dry cell battery. Of course I always let the car cool down properly before using the switch.

Does your battery charge light and/or the red lights over the temp and oil pressure gauges come on (dim)? Mine will come on randomly but very dim and I used to have a battery drain problem. Also a clicking noise I had was the air pump turning on and off randomly and something would drain the battery. Since then I have disconnected the air pump and the lights still come on sometimes but go away once I turn the main lights on and theres no more clicking or battery drain. Weird light thing though...
