Weep hole question
The FSM says that when putting in the thermostat to put the weep hole at the top. Does anyone know what will happen if you don't do that?
I was doing my single turbo swap and replacing the IC/rad with the RE VMIC setup. I got a new thermostat and a buddy of mine put it in but he didn't know about putting the weep hole at the top, so he's not sure if he did.
When I refilled the coolant system I used water and water wetter. My temps get hotter faster than they did before. I haven't ducted the VMIC yet and I'm running the stock front bumper for now, but I wouldn't think that would have so much to do with it. It was my understanding that water wetter was supposed to decrease the temps up to 20 degrees, not keep them at the same level or even hotter.
So I'm wondering if the weep hole is somewhere but at the top where it's supposed to be, and if it would have the results I'm having.

Makes it harder to work the air out of the system if it's down.
You should check your new thermostat opening setting...are you sure it's right? Is all the air out?

Yep, it just goes at the top to help get air out of the system, that's it.
It's not hard to pull the thermostat housing, just pop it off and double-check things. Give your system a good burp, get all that air out.
