yeah thats me, i bought a theft recovery from cali and the guy who bought it (who i bought it from)-bought a tach with a ton of miles to complete it since the gauges were stolen. I had a buddy buy it and he wanted it to be as close as possible to the actual miles. .

I know what you mean when you tell people what you drive and they "I dont see many of those" . I realy like the way girls scowel at my girl frind when we are driving around, and the guys give me a thumbs up or yell "smoke show".

I tend to stare at my FC when its dark and squint to make it look a little like an FD. I'm unfortunate...

considering that i've seen 4 ferrari's and 5 lambo's in the last year but only 3 rx7s other than mine (not including going to kd rotary), I'd way it's pretty rare

IMHO, this car is "something special". In my mind, it's not unlike the post-war MGs, Triumphs, Jags etc. that my father's generation loved so much.
I think what began in the early 70s with the 240Z culminated in the 90s with the FD, Supra and 300Z. No "it ain't no super-car", but that's just the point. It was an affordable (but still relatively exclusive) alternative to Porsche, BMW and others, offering tremendous performance for the dollar. And how many other cars have aged so well when it comes to styling? I'm a lucky guy for alot of reasons. I've got my health, a great family, a nice home.... and I've got an FD.

Well said.

Another point, while the FD is not an expensive car (a new Civic SI costs more than most FDs), what other 10-12 yr old car holds it's value as well as an FD?

I bought my 1993 R1 in 1998 with 36K miles for $16K, I expect I'll sell it for the same amount soon.

There is only one other car that can contend with the FD when it comes to style and that is the NSX. Those are the only two cars that have a style that will last for a long time. Hell the FD could still be confused with a new car. When I first bought my FD I went to get tires for it and a C5 parked next to me and the guy said "nice ride" I replied with "yah not bad for a 11 year old car" the guy was floored when he relized it was a 93. Those story will continue and only get better. That is one thing that makes the FD special.

I don't think if I had an FD that I'd take it being called a Viper very well. Now granted, the Viper is faster, but its not as elusive and sexy as the FD is.

Well, how well would you take it being mistaken for a Miata then?

Does the term "rip heads out through asses" ring a bell? Thats how I'd take it. Either that or tell them its the Miata's tougher sister.

I was having a bad day until I read this thread. I think I'll go smoke a cigarette and stare @ my FD.
