Exclamation Water Temperature Question?

I noticed that most seem to be saying that their temps climb while at a stop and decrease while on the highway. Mine are the opposite. This summer with temps in the average of 102f, I've been seeing my water temps at idle at a stop at 195-200f and on the freeway at 205-220. Power FC confirms these readings. Sometimes on boost and off boost. It hits 220 when im on it hard repeatedly. Although, I havent seen the temps go over 220f. I have the fan mod in place running full time when the temps hit 195f. Coolant mix is 70 water 30 coolant. I never need to add coolant nor do I ever boil over. At what temp should I start to worry. My brother seems to think the radiator might have some blockage or the waterpump is going bad. Mods are DP, exhaust, PFC, everthing else is orignal.

Well when i'm driving at a cruising speed 40+ mph I usually see 190 when it's about 100 degrees out side, at stops it will climb slowly to 210 but I also have a fan switch so as long as i'm not driving hard it usualy stays about 210 until i get moving again. When it's colder outside I typically see sub 170 degrees at 50+ mph and not usually more than 190 even stopped with fans on. I'd run more coolant considering you live in texas where it could boil more easily. Also look into getting an aluminum radiator.

the thermostat in the water pump could be bad. have u upgraded the radiator? you do have your under body air dam on right? try filling in the gaps around it with foam. and make sure BOTH of your fans are working properly.

Using the stock radiator and stock turbos in 100+ degree weather, your temps are fine. If they start continually going over 220, then take a look.

You might make sure you have the sides of the radiator blocked off but other than that, enjoy the car.

Those temperatures are fine for that kind of heat. When's the last time you replaced the thermostat? It's good cheap insurance, flush the coolant and clean your radiator while you are at it if you are really worried about it.

with outside temps like that, your temps are far from abnormal..

last summer when i had your mods plus upgraded smic, i would see 195f on the gauge all the time, then maybe it will creep to 205 but never hit 210, even if stuck in traffic for a while..

now with my fmic, i have never seen the gauge go past 185f even in heavy heavy traffic, im happy..

I have yet to change the thermostat, I guess its time though the car does have 45k miles on it. I checked the side of the radiator and the foam is intact. The one thing I have noticed is that when the fans kick on I can feel the air being blown through the radiator into the engine compartment. But I also feel some air being pushed back through the radiator towards the front of the car. Both fans are turning in the right direction. What do you guys think would cause the car to lower its temps in traffic and increase on the highway.

Forgot to mention that today with 100f weather my temps were in the 210-215 on the highway with the fan mod running, but when I came to a stop the temps dropped to 200 in a couple of minutes.
