I ran mine along the firewall, along the passenger side wheel well, then across to the engine next to the overflow tank hose. Then up to the t-stat

It took a few minutes, but was pretty easy.

It's just a wire isn't it? If it isn't long enough, just splice in another section.

Looking at the instructions, the "cable" is sealed tubing with the temperature sensor (probe) at the end.

Its on 2nd page.

It's just a 2-lead setup, i.e. 2 wires. Cut and splice like anything else. Want the "tube" to go with it? Pick some up at Home Depot or do without it.

WTS is just a variable resistor.

Hopefully a relevant hijacking...

If my WTS is grounded inside the dash, with a single lead going out to the water pump housing, should I instead run my ground out parallel with the lead and ground to the housing? Has it ever made a difference (I have extra engine grounds kit installed)?

Dave,

No need to do that. The sender grounds itself to the block. I don't think any additional grounds are necessary.

Hm, I'm disappointed I forgot about that. But I guess then that the resistance over the wire and ground path doesn't need compensated?

I ran mine through a hole behind the fuse box on the drivers side under the tb elbow and over the alternator to the tstat housing. Works great and you dont even notice it.

If is is a mechanical gauge, that would mean that you may have coolant flowing into the passenger compartment. Thats bad for two reasons:
1. The coolant will cool off before it reaches the temperature reading unit. You won't get accurate readings.
2. If a hose comes loose, you will have a terrible mess INSIDE your car.

If this is the case, I strongly advise that you get an electronic gauge.
