Question Transmisson Problem?

I just bought a 93 with 36k, form the original owner, with original tires. The only problem is I have to shift up slowly or it almost grinds. but it downshifts ok, and goes into reverse and 1st fine. I changed to trans lube to synthetic, and that did not help. It has this problem in all gears, but mostly from 1st to 2nd. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

Check to make sure your clutch is adjusted properly. If it engages too low on the throw, it will cause symptoms similar to what you are describing. There is an adjustment under the pedal with a lock nut on it. I believe it is a 12 mm nut. To adjust it, loosen the nut, and turn the adjustment pin to make it a little bit longer. Re-tighten the nut.

If you feel you pedal is already adjusted properly, don't do this.

Don't forget to bleed the clutch hydraulics, too. Air in the system could aggravate your symptoms.

I agree 100%, first step is to be sure that the clutch pedal is fully disengaging the clutch. Adjust the pedal and bleed the clutch fluid... while you're at it you should completely flush, refill, and bleed the brakes too... they share the same fluid resevoir and I bet they need it.

Thank you very much, I will give it a try and let you know if it solves my problem.
