water running down firewall

Hi guys i've searched all i can and havent found anyone else complaining of this problem as such.

My passenger foot well (your drivers side) has a pool of water in front of the seat but not under. I checked the a/c hose and found it to be in place so the next step was to break out the garden hose and have my g/friend in the car with a torch. What we found was water running down the inside of the firewall at a resonable rate but we cant see where its getting in.

There is no extra holes been drilled in the firewall etc, the windscreen has been recently replaced and looks to be well sealed. I have had the fender off to check in behind it but to no sucess.

Any and all help greatly appreciated

hey man. I had this prob but on the drivers side,

It turned out that when who ever put the cert plate on the fire wall...., its hard to explain, but they had drilled through the firewall and also if you look down through the plastic grill that covers where the windowiper mech is the steel plate that runs under there they had accicentally drilled through that to, and that lets the water straight into the car it took me ages to find it, the place where they had drilled hadnt quite broken through, but it had exposed the metal to the mother nature and it had rusted, it made my carpet all wet, If you remove the plastic grill and use a mirror and a torch you can inspect in there fairly easily, is quick and easy and only takes 10 mins, worth a look, i no you said there were no extra holes drilled but it could have been done awhile ago?? who knows lol

if the water is running down in the passangers firewall and into the footwell it might pay to check and see if the ecu is getting wet, it would suck to have to replace that, I was just looking at your mods, do you have a standard ecu with all your mods or ? anyway hope i have helped

I would have thought it was the a/c hose. Did your girl really have a torch inside the car? Is that what New Zealanders call a flashlight?

Do you have a sunroof? IIRC the front drain passages run down inside of the A-pillars and out the below the firewall, just aft of the wheel well. Just a thought that one could blocked or corroded and be the source.

GoodfellaFD3S- yes torch = flashlight.....sorry i try my best to remeber the different terms you guys use.

schwass- thanks heps for yor tips, ill have to get a mirror and check that asap. & yes will be running standard computor (have had input from rx7 heaven) just finishing off the intercooler plumbing now & will have to see how i go. Alot of guys are running single turbos on stock ecu as well!!

Sgtblue/GUITARJUNKIE28 - no sunroof & heater core is unlikey as water comes thru via the garden hose or do you mean that water is getting thru where air should passs over the core?

Thanks guys for your help ill keep you posted
