I have some moisture, actually a lot of drops of water, in my right tail light, I know that there is a glue that holds the 2 parts together and you heat it up to seperate it, but what can I use to re-seal it?

any one have good ideas?

 

automotive goo(same company as shoe glue)

 

i did a mod to my friends headlight that required resealing and i used some plumbing caulking that did the trick for me

 

ahh yes, i went to homedepot to look for calk or 'goop' stuff and ended up using some sealent that stayes rubbery instead of hardening

 

I get a little moisture in my passenger side blinker/marker light, maybe I should try that. hmmmm...

 

Just toss a few goldfish in there and make sure to leave a hole so you can feed them

i used silicone sealent used for aquariums, it seals but stays rubbery, so if needed i could spereate them again without damage

 

I used to use weather sealant for weather strips on cars.. Its still melts under heat gun..

Also, there is a small hose attatched on the back of the tail lights.. when that hose comes off, water tends to get in.. you might be missing one.. its a ventilation opening..

i know the hose you speak of, and it is intact...and not plugged so it can vent, ...but i was getting serious water in there so it must have been a crack/hole in the seal..... now its literally caulked together so ill see durign the next car wash if it worked lol

After all those years... what's the best sealant I should use to reglue the taillights?

 

silicon will most likely be your best bet. Same stuff they used to make fish tanks water tight.

 

rock a MR2 roof scoop to the tails and never have water vapor again lol.
