Water Pump Housing Sensor Identification

There are 2 sensors on the "water pump housing" (just below where the radiator cap sits. One of those sensors is a black sensor with a wire coming off it. This sensor is the water level sensor.


What's the other one? It's gold and in the below photo my index finger is point to its hole..

Did it come from an automatic? Automatics have an extra sensor.

yeah automatic. AH! I didn't know that. Having a hard time finding ANYTHING about it.

probably doesn't matter b/c the sensor wasn't hooked up to anything... but I'd love to know what it is.. lol
