Water in gas tank. Help!
Hey guys, so i had to leave the county for close to a year, I had someone add some gas+stabil to my gas tank and that person forgot to replace the gas cap (No fuel door due to carbon wide body) It does have the small lid thats about the size of a quarter in the tank blocking it from during in. I'm afraid lots of water has gotten in the tank. Is there any easy way to figure this out or should i rent an electric pump and empty it out. Last but not least, should i drop the tank and pour it out? I understand it may have rusted out as well? Any advice would be great.
Yeah, just drain the tank with the drain plug. Hopefully you won't have a lot of gas in there. Save the gas for the lawnmower
.
When you fill it back up, I would go ahead and put some sort of product that removes water from gas in with it. Even draining the tank you could still have condensation and other moisture in the tank.
I would also take it easy on the first full tank of gas, give it time to get all that water out of the system.
Hopefully that's all you need to do!

As dale said some add some fuel dryer to a full tank of NEW gas. I have used this in the past:

Thanks everyone, got it drained out today. Im going to try to start it tomm. I got the battery on the charger, and the gas tank is all cleaned out. Im going to pick up 5 gallons or so and add appropriate premix and the dryer product mentioned above. Ill add some oil to the crankcase through the spark plug holes and turn it over a few times to lube it up and get the oil pressure up a little. Get the harness all plugged in and fire it up. Any other advice? If it doesn't fire off the bat can i use a little carb cleaner in the intake to see if it will run at all?

Also cleaned it after sitting for so long.
