Another flaming post war. I think the stickies for newbies was a very good idea, but I think if somehow they could make it a little more noticable for them it would help. Otherwise we will just have people doing exactly this, coming in and posting ten times and then leaving everything. Oh well. I am a little skeptical as most of us are we someone comes in and posts like this, but you never know, someday someone with lots of money might come in here someday and actually do what he says(I doubt it but you never know). If you were serious man, sorry for what happened but what they said is true, the 20b conversion is gonna cost you an arm and a leg. whatever.

Yeah I can see both sides of this sort of. I mean he is asking a question that has been asked many times before, and if he used the search function he would have found out what he wanted to know with out all this, and then asked a more specific question. But then again we don't need to demoralize every newbie that comes in here just cause we are pissed they asked the question. The best thing we can do is just tell them to use the search. But most people just want to flame. Maybe some day there will be a better way to get newbies to use the search but until then the flames will most likely just continue. I'm with you though, Rx-7 addict, this doesn't reflect well at all on the forum. It just makes us look like a bunch of asses. Which some people are. But oh well.

Thumbs up My thoughts exactly...

Ya know, I've got to say... I really dislike the fact that you guys went off this guy. I mean..sure he's a newb (I'm a newb, too), and sure he has problems with his typing, but there's no reason for you guys to come off like azzes.

I, myself, didn't realize how much a 20b conversion would cost until I read up on it...it's amazingly expensive.

Still, some of you are the ones that started ripping into him, so what do you expect? For him to sit back and take it? Get a clue, and learn some respect....I don't care if you can take an FD apart with your eyes closed, you don't have to be azzes.

If this is the way you treat all newcomers who just might not have a clue....well...that's pretty f'ed up.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm glad i'm not the only one that feels this way.

*Maybe they should have a TUTORIAL for newbies when they first sign-up. It could show them how to use the "Search" function, and give them a little education on forum etiquette and "Bash" prevention.

Moderators, would this be feasable? Could save lots of headaches and make this forum run soooo much smoother.

So what do you guys think?

Sorry to tell some of you this but....

Coming into an open forum and showing that you have no spelling or grammar skills indicates a person that is really either a.) very stupid or b.) doesn't give a damn that he appears stupid.

The way some of you mangle words disgusts me.

Do they not teach anything in school anymore? Don't you realize how important it is to have and use proper grammar and spelling?

You will never amount to anything, you will never have a decent job if you don't speak and spell words correctly.
You are looked at as an inferior human being. You epitomize all that is bad in the country today. You suck, to put it bluntly. You show that you are a lazy *** that doesn't give a ****, so why should we care about you?

I like your idea HeX. But one problem, if they just have to click through to get past it, like having a button at the end of the tutorial to go to the next page, they would most likely skip the whole thing and just press yes. It might help some though.

A bit strong, perhaps, but I tend to agree.

Well, at the risk of hijacking this thread...

That won't work. Not everyone that joins this forum joins because they have/want and FD. There are other rotary based cars.

Anyways, not everyone who joins knows anything about rotaries, which is usually why they are joining in the first place.

The search function is no different here than it is on ANY forum whether it be the RX-7 forum, a CPU forum, sports forum, etc... People just choose not to use them if they don't have too and nothing is going to change that.

Well Mahjik what if when someone just ask a question that we all know has been asked before the moderator tells them to use the search function, closes the thread, and warns them? Would this be a good idea or just overkill?
