just new to the cars myself and it may differ from market to market

but as i understand it the R1 got super stiff suspension
(so stiff that mazda softened it for the R2 version)

2 oil coolers to the base car's 1

and the red front suspension tower brace you will see in many engine bays. aftermarket braces are often a beautiful polished alloy but don't have the the flex? bearing

after 10 years most of the cars are on their 2nd set of suspension dampers and generally people fit the stiffer adjustables like KYB, TEIN, etc.

the tower brace was also a popular add-on for base cars

i've read some reports that say the dual oil colers didn't do much and others saying you should fit them if you can....

me i can't even find mine yet!

The R1 has 150hp more but the super stiff clutch, beefy trans and diff reduce that down to about a 10hp diff at the wheels.

Kidding...

All FDs have the same HP ratings. Automatics have a 1000rpm lower redline due to the trans, the engine is the same except for the bellhousing bolt pattern.

new to typing too, eh?

the simple answer:
Think of the Touring/PEP/PEG as the model with all the amenities - cruise, sun/moonroof, CD player, leather, fog lights.

The R1/2 has stiffer shocks, strut bar, second oil cooler, no cruise, no CD, no sunroof, and a pseudo-suede material on the seats.

There's also a base model that has some combination of Touring stuff, but usually not all of it - they generally have cloth seats.

oh and uhh... you *really* need to do a lot more research on a 20B - it's not a drop-in by any means, it screws up the weight distribution, it's not EPA type-certified and is therefore illegal to have in the car (I think in all states, but I may be wrong).

Unhappy It's round, brown, and everyone's got one.

You can't judge a person by their GRAMIR skills. Maybe "English" is his second language... and maybe... just maybe, he's got all the money in the world and doesn't need an ounce of !@$#%&* english to spend it! U guys are "A-holes".

The r1 r2 in US is not exactly the same as r1 r2 in Japan.
If you were to ask Japanse which is better tey would probably say the r1, The r2 was never really popular in Japan in comparison to the r2, yet for reliability the r2 is better the r2 came out in late 93 94 and had the technial recall hitches that the r1 had eliminated as standard. Like water pumplower pressure for cooling system, I believe twin oil cooler I think the r1 only had one, softer suspension because many people complain that the r1 was too firm etc etc. Yet when the r2 came out in Japan people seem to prefer the r1. You can often find a cheaper 94 r2 than a 92 r1 forsale in Japan at auctions with same mileage etc. I guess personal preference decides whats best for most people not so much whats on paper.

Supra97TT850,

Granted, the guys were a little hard on you. However, there are MANY people that come into the forum at say:

"Hey, I'm gonna get me a RX-7 and put a 20b into it."

then their next question would be something like:

"What's a strut bar?"

The 20b conversion is extremely expensive. There are VERY few 20b FD's running around because of the cost involved for getting everything done. Being so rare, most people in the forum usually never take anyone seriously when they say that they are going to do it and yet they don't know the differences between the various versions of the car.

I'm sure on the Supra forums, they get new people jumping in there all the time saying they are going to get a Supra and instantly turn it into a 9 second 1/4 mile car. I'm sure the Supra owners laugh at them as well since they know very few of those people will actually end up owning the car let alone modifying it so highly.

Anyway, if you like the car, get it. Don't let someone's attitude change your taste.

If you are interested in a 20b conversion, one of the admins of this forum is in the middle of doing the conversion. You can see some shots of him test fitting the engine in the following thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=155206

You can PM him for questions concerning the conversion if you like.

LOL. Well there's nothing "PINK" on my body. I appreciate you letting me in on this. Are you from the Suidae family by any chance?

-HeX

ps. Since we're on the subject of wiping "your" ****. Do you wipe up or down? You forgot to mention that vital bit of information. Thanks in advance.

I don't mean to get technical but can someone translate this for me "wat is a LAmbro” The author of this exposition wrote that and it befuddles me to the inth. I'm thinking that he is maybe saying, he's got a Lambo, which would be a Lamborghini. Or maybe it is an aspect of his Creole language. Even more mysterious, is he asking us "What is a LAmbro?" And does he want to know what this anomaly is?

The mysteries of those that want to "drop in" a 20b...we may never know...

Did I detect a note of sarcasm here: GRAMIR?

SrMotorsports has a 20b engine complete with ECU and all for $4500 I think, but it's got 20k miles on it or something like that. I'm not sure why you wanna go dropping that in your car right away, I'll be happy with a large street ported 13b and a giant single turbo!

Ya know, I've got to say...

I really dislike the fact that you guys went off this guy. I mean..sure he's a newb (I'm a newb, too), and sure he has problems with his typing, but there's no reason for you guys to come off like azzes.

I, myself, didn't realize how much a 20b conversion would cost until I read up on it...it's amazingly expensive.

Still, some of you are the ones that started ripping into him, so what do you expect? For him to sit back and take it? Get a clue, and learn some respect....I don't care if you can take an FD apart with your eyes closed, you don't have to be azzes.

If this is the way you treat all newcomers who just might not have a clue....well...that's pretty f'ed up.

True, but I was just letting him know he can get a 20b from srmotorsports for about $4500 (still not sure) and that would be a cheap way to go cause after that he can have it rebuilt....I think. But I was just saying that I would rather have a large street-ported 13b, but of course that just my opinion. It don't matter, we all in the same boat here, everyonje on this site was at one point in the postion where they didn't have any info they needed or wanted and they had to find out someway, but I'm sure they didn't get yelled at for asking questions. Of course the people in the beginning probably had no where to go for answers at first until this place popped up. Just my .02 though.
