yeah and no
in order for "other" components to warm up, you have to DRIVE the car..idling the car for a minute takes care of the engine and coolant temp, driving the car takes care of the rest..thats why its recommended in a car with an auto tranny to drive the car slowly or easily after about a 1 min warm up to warm up the tranny..thats in cold days as well as warm days..
so as with me, in the winter, ill idle the car for about 5-7 minutes, then go..and since my job is only 2 miles away, i dont have enought distance to see 180f cause ill be at my job so in the winter time, im mostly just crusing to work..
thank god its spring time now, i can idle the car for about 2 minutes and hopefully ill reach 180f so i can boost at least 1/4 before i hit my job lol
