Hey Fritz. I am assuming we need to be there on Thursday for this? Also, the event is Friday thru Sunday. Is there a more detailed schedule somewere that list the timing for each day? Specifically, is Sunday a short day where most drive back home?

Thanks and looking forward to it!

First Settlers should send you an email w/ the schedule a week or so before the event.

Sunday is a full day and the best day for folks who are new to the sport or who haven't been to VIR before because the other drivers along w/ yourself will be more comfortable on track and you'll find the traffic picks up a lot of speed and some go home early also making traffic less of a worry or concern.

I'll contact VIR again tomorrow to try to get the skid pad. I've called a couple of times and was told they'd check w/ the other group that has the skid pad scheduled that thursday to see if we could have it for a couple of hours on Thursday maybe between 3 and 5.

I'll post here once I have the final word.

Wow, you're cutting it close if you just dropped the engine. What are you doing to her ?

BTW: my student at Roebling was Eric in green RX8. Sounds like he hangs with you and the rest of the Atlanta, GA, guys . . .

Good luck!

Ahhhh, good old Eric! Yes, he does. It was his first time at RRR. He lives and works right down the street from Road Atlanta though as he probably told you. He also normally brings a really nice motorhome/RV out to keep us warm in the winters and cold in the summers if you ever make your way to RA!

As for the car, it's not that big of a deal. I dropped a valve last June and deployed shortly after. I've been back in the states a couple of weeks now and Dan and Brian are, as always, making it happen. However, just like my old single turbo FD, if I have all the parts on hand, I'm pretty sure I can take a fully assembled bad engine that is in the car and swap it with a good one in less than a day. Parts on hand is the big 'if' though as I've changed a few things on my car's engine/drivetrain. That, and the fact that I'm in TX and the car is in TN and I only see it on the weekends... in which I'm also neck deep in wedding planning that occurs in less than month. I'm sure it'll be fine (famous last words)

haha... that's right! It's how "Almost" Racing does business!

Have to figure out my tire situation. Not sure what I'll be on. Maybe some used Ho Ho's. I have plenty of 315's, but no 335's. If I can't come up with any 335's, I may just run 315 square. I'm keeping an eye out though. Wish I hadn't got rid of my sets that I had last year. With 3 days, I need something that'll last. What about you?

Because it's a 3 day event and I want to keep up w/ all those GT3s I'm going to mount fresh c51s. The set on the car now have 16 HCs so they are done. I could flip them and get another day or two but I'd be a good 2 to 3 seconds off pace.

I suggest you go all out and get some new hoos

I'm putting the first start on my motor tonight. Assuming success (LARGE assumption), break-in mileage to follow, tuning on Monday @PFS, and I'll be on Hoo-Hoo's with 2 heat cycles on them.

I've still got a shot to make this.

^^ Ditto that!

Well hell, if you are both going to be on fresh rubber I may have to break out a set of my new hoosiers. Not looking good for any competitions this year anyways.

I think I have 2 245/35/18 Kumho V710's that are brand new I think we talked about before. I have them here in TX with me, but I'll toss them in the back of the truck and bring them to you like we discussed before. They've been bagged and stored so they should be fine.

Dan these would be perfect. Just get some 255s or 265s for the back from tire rack p/u the fronts from Brent and have them mounted on Thursday or take off during lunch Friday and get them mounted.

Hey Fritz, you heard anything else about the skid pad? I'm guessing it's a no go?

They don't make them in 255 or 265 It jumps from 245 to 285

Brent sounds good! I completely forgot about that actually..I really need a spare set of track wheels.

I'm pretty sure they use to. That sucks that they got rid of those middle sizes. You could run 245's on all 4 corners with that sticky of a tire. That's what size our track friend Brian Bower's was running when he set a new TTA lap record a VIR a few months ago in his C5Z.

I'm still still working on it. I've called a few times and spoke w/ Kevin who handles all the rentals but he's not returned my calls to say if it's a go or a no. He's supposed to get in touch w/ the motorcycle group who has it rented and see if we can have it for a couple of hours in the afternoon from like 3 to 5 which I think should work out. I'll try again tomorrow.

It started but doesn't run right... at the minimum it looks like I forgot the oil injection nozzle restrictors (I forgot there WHERE any), and the tune is off. BUT, it doesn't leak oil, water, or fuel. It's off to see Ray at PFS. Enough amateur hour.

Hell yeah dude! That's awesome man! I know so many people(myself included) when they rebuild their engine pick up the oil injector restrictors and wonder "wth is this?", toss them to the side, and continue on.

Ray will have it sorted in no time and it will be running better than ever
