Thought I'd bump this back up and ask for advice. Now that I got the dates wrong for the Modified Tuner Shootout event, I became available for the PCA event in May, but I am wait listed and have no idea if I will get in. So, any other recommendations for events to attend around the same time frame? Any VIR possibilities or other good track recommendations?
Thanks!
Thanks!

They also have a time trial at the end of each day
I'll likely be there pretty much every month with one club or another until Nov or so.

I love little tracks but that track just isn't safe or as fun as the others close by so it's not worth messing with it. The South course at VIR is a super fun technical little track.

I live an hour away from Summit and 4.5 from VIR so it makes sense for me. In my experience, Shenandoah is much safer than Summit Main. Neither have the copious amounts of runoff that VIR enjoys, but the the wrecks at Main are always much more severe due to the higher average and top speeds and the technical nature of the course. With more than twice as many turns in the same distance, Shenandoah offers lots of handling fun without quite as much danger. YMMV

Darkside DE is at Roebling Road Raceway the weekend of May 5, and so will I. Check it out here:

Also, Roebling is a GREAT beginer's track- LOTS of runoff; and even for the experienced, many lines through it . . .
Carolina Motosport Park (CMP) is in Kershaw, SC, and has some elevation like VIR:
Carolina MotorSports Park
Tarheel Sports Car Club hosts at both CMP and VIR:
Tarheel Sportscar Club/Triangle Z Club HPDE/Time Trials

I'm in touch with the PCA organizers and we will see if I can slide in. Fritz, do you know if BMW Z4s are safety ready for VIR? My father in law has one and it is on his bucket list to do a track event but it's a convertible so I don't know how that works for him. The Z4 has rollover safety mechanisms but I am unclear as to how that works.

Fortunately they've done a lot over the years to make the main course safer hopefully they've done the same for Shenandoah. I'll likely get up to Summit a couple of times with NASA. Possibly Hyperfest in June and the fall finale in Nov.
No doubt a faster track is more dangerous however lets face it sliding through a corner at 90 is a lot more fun than 50.

Thanks Neil. Going to get in touch with the father in law about the event in early May. That seems to fit the bill as a good replacement for VIR.

If it has the seat halo type roll bar things then I think it's fine but they have to be a certain distance above his head with a helmet on. There should be some sort of explanation regarding those types of cars on the website of the club.

Well the VIR May 17-19th event is pretty much sold out. As far as I can tell, there are no more green, blue, or red slots open. I'm a newbie to this and was wait listed on the green group, so I've cancelled the registration. That is what I get for waiting too long
My father-in-law and I are now registered to attend the Dark Side event on May 4-5th at Roebling Raceway in Savannah GA:

Not VIR (and I love VIR) but a really good track especially for beginners. The other plus is it's pretty wide open for registrations so it will be less crowded.
