1st not the least bit funny

2nd you fellas have way too many cheap available FDs if you think there was nothing worth anything left on that car

One mans trash is another mans treasure so lets just say we treasure even junk rollers like that over here in the states. If it's not wrecked pretty bad it's a good car....that was painful to watch.

I see a very good hood and suspension parts. But being on Okinawa, it would be expensive to ship it all back across the big pond.

But, I have seen motorcycles broken down and shipped from Okinawa back to the states.

What... Why? I've seen Geo Metros that looked 10x worse at the pick and pull junk yards around here. That car looked like it had quite a few good panels left on it.

I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices cried out in terror...

Haha. Yeah that felt wrong watching it. But you have to consider FDs are a dime a dozen in Japan. A decade worth of sales.

Wow, didnt expect this reaction from people. I guess this deserves an explaination.

The car had sat for ~3 years with a blown motor by a guy who bought the car because it looked cool. With that said, he didnt really know what to do with it so he did nothing. After all that time, the car had built up a lot of fees that would have needed to be paid ON TOP OF getting a new motor. He made effort to sell the car as it was before being stripped. 1000$ for a clean 94 shell with no rust and missing a motor is pretty good deal. After 6 months of zero interest and his time on island coming to an end there were very few options. It was either junk the car as it sat, strip it and then junk it or give the car to someone as it was and make it their problem to sell.

The market for the rx7 here in okinawa isnt like the rest of the world. The fd is still a great car but it isnt looked at as a legendary machine like in america or anywhere else. There are no rotary shops here or people that specialize in the machine. People that arent public anyway. If you get an fd here then youre on your own. Either learn quick or hope it doesnt break. Junking an fd is a pretty common thing. Its not preferred but it happens.

Just like luajesse makes threads about saving them, i try and do the same but the owners get tired of spending money and the time they have here doesn't justify spending 1000s on a car like this. I believe they shouldn't have bought it in the first place if they werent ready to mess with it. A nice fd here averages 3500-7000$ so people just buy them without really knowing what theyre getting into. The cost to own is low enough that is the mind set.

And just to clarify, i was laughing because of the guy in the crane. He was being funny. Also, i'll upload pictures later of the condition of the car when we were stripping it. We took all we could and what was usable. Parts arent as easy to sell locally as anywhere else and no one has space at their homes to store a bunch of stuff. There was nothing that could be done to save it.

Wow, I learned something new. I didn't know Okinawa was a separate island. This makes me thankful for where I'm at and the resources I have to keep my FD alive.
