Very sluggish off the line.Need help diagnosing.

my car is an auto fd.I have to say that the car is very fun to drive. But lately ive noticed that the car is very sluggish off the line once the car has been driven for maybe half an hour or so.When its warmed up but has been running for maybe 5 minutes or so the car takes about 2 to 3 seconds to really get going. In that time frame just about every car on the road has better accelaration.Which baffles me because our cars stock have 220 pounds of torque and 255 horses right? I cant believe that this car is so sluggish off the line.It just doesnt make sense to me that my wifes 95 celica gt pulls harder off the line than an rx7.
Once the cars been driven for a while it takes it like 5 to 6 seconds or more to get going. The lag or whatnot is very bad.Im not sure whether its a torque converter problem or something related to the turbo controll system.Ive read somewhere that the Air Intake thermosensor or the water thermosensor can give such symptoms if they are bad or going bad.Maybe you guys could help me figure this out if its not too much trouble.
Heres whats been changed out already.

-Rats nest solenoids all brand new.
-Engine Duty Solenoid Brand new.
-Turbo Control Solenoid brand new the one above the acv
-NEw 550 and 850 blitz injectors as well as a new fuel pulsation dampner ,fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter
-New silicone vacuum lines brand new from hose techniques
-Blitz intakes, blitz catback, blitz blow off valve
-Tsudo downpipe
-Greddy Profec b spec 2
-All gaskets changed except for the lower intake manifold.

My auto does that too. Usually when it hits about 2k rpm its starts goin pretty well. I'm looking into getting me trasmission replaced to fix the problem. If you I'm I can let you know how it goes. It would probably be a month or so if it gets done. If anyone else has an idea I'm interested in hearing it too. I would prefer not to have to replace me trans. See sig for what I have.

I have a manual, and it feels sluggish sometimes also. Don't even ask if I've been at a light for a while with the A/C on. Its pretty sluggish. It gets going right after 2krpms.

Have the tranny modified to a higher stall speed.

hmmm.Sounds to me like there is a common problem with both versions of the fd.Are any of you guys running a fmic or are we all still using the stock mount intercoolers.Im thinking that maybe heat soak has something to do with this.Mainly because of the temperature variable.

What is going on is that the turbos start to spool at 2k so you are fellin the lag in the worst possible way. I have a auto also and there are a couple of solutions for the sluggishnes.

1. Is not a new tranny

2. You can eliminate the slug by putting a 3k rpm stall converter in your car. This way by the time the tranny starts to move the car the turbos are already spooling.

3. There is a technique called tourque braking or power braking. You hold the brake while stepping on the gas till your rpms are up then let go of the brake.

I recomend #2 if you want to keep the auto.

I dont understand the whole higher stall speed thing. What is its purpose and how do you make use of it? What is stall speed ? is it the amount of revving you can do before the car wants to stall out? does this apply to manuals autos or both?

when you say higher stall converter are you reffering to the torque converter? If so how much does this part cost and how costly is it to get it done? whats involved in the labor? My father in law is a mechanic so the install shouldnt be that bad.

Try replacing your oxygen sensor. I poped in two new ones into my dad's maxima and it ran 10x better. You never know.

forgot to mention that one.I also put in a new oxygen sensor in the downpipe. Is there another o2 sensor in the main cat ?
My air pump is also not working right now so maybe the main cat is starting to clogg up on my ***.I looked at the bricks and it looked fine though.
Im thinking of changing the tranny fluid and see if it helps at all.

ohh I also forgot to mention a few other symptoms that I am experiencing. The car has small backfires and popps sometimes while idling and when just letting the car cruise. For example driving at maybe 10 miles per hour in a parking lot.I makes a weird exhaust note. Not deep but more like a brrrr and then pauses a then brrrrrr. Its very weird. So Im not quite sure whats going on in this department. Also my idle jumps up and down sometimes between 800 and 1500 rpms.Very weird indeed. How important is the throttle position sensor to ignition timing and fuel?

what does your boost curve look like and do you have any kind of ducting enhancment for the smic? they do heatsoak fairly fast...

when was the last time you changed spark plugs and/or wires? after 12 years, stuff gets crappy under the extreme temps and performance. also, it is a rotary so that = no torque down low. its even worst for you as you have an autotragic

if you want enuf torque to do 1-1.5krpm burn outs, V8
nothing says loving more then over 300rwhp N/a hehe

in anycase, have you tried torque braking? yes its not good for your stock torque converter but it may help a bit

just changed the plugs a few weeks ago and I changed them regularly.I have 8.5 mm magnecores that I put in about a year ago. Also I have a ground kit installed which helped to cure some other little issues. The car drives smoother. But it still feels like theres something amiss.
I cant imagine that the intercooler gets that heat soaked but what else could it be? since I lose a tremendous amount of power once the cars been driven hard for about 30 minutes or more.Thats when off the line power sucks ***.I got a ride in a rx8 and even that damn thing has better low end grunt compared to my car once its heated up.When its cool outside the car performs much better.Im seriosuly kicking myself in the *** for listening to my wife in purchasing a auto fd.I should never have listened to a woman when it comes to cars.Live and learn I guess.
Anyone have any shops they can recommend for auto to 5 speed swaps? The only reason I would pay someone else is that I dont feel like ******* with everything and I want someone with a lot of experience doing this sort of moddification so that its done correctly.
