Very high oil pressure, is this common???
When I start the car in the morning and let it warm up and then drive, the oil pressure will reach 120 by 3000 rpms. Is this common, when using 20-50w oil? After driving around for about 10 minutes the level stays at 60 and will rise but not to 120. Also when I boost at 10 psi the oil pressure will hit 120 as long as its at 10 psi. I hope this is common. Thanks

yea i us to get the same reading at start up but i didnt know if it was that oil sending unit was fried or the oil was to thick, i canged oil from 10w 30 to 5w-30 and i get a lower reading at start up. I also live in miami Fl so thats why i us such a low viscosity rate.

Your oil press is good and were it should be : 120psi over 3000rpm cold
60psi at 3000 when fully warmed up
15 psi min at idle warm
QuickREX- 5w-30 is TOO LIGHT for an FD unless the average temp is below 30degF switch back to 10w-30 it is OK to get 120psi+ pressure when the engine is cold.
ALL - MAZDA recomends 10w-30 for all but the COLDEST areas (5w-30 for very cold areas)- I would only recomend 20-50 for TRACK (road race) use where the car is operated at MAXIMUM temps for a extended period of time.
