I got a waterbottle cap on the little rubber hose and it works well. Its force fitted on there, so there really isnt any need for a clamp, however, a clamp like the stock one on top of the cap couldn't hurt. I was thinkin a big rubber stopper would be the best idea to plug the hole up though,so eventually Im going to pick up one.

Some silcone RTV sealant would probably be good for sealing up the coke bottle caps and it should help keep them on, too. But you can probably get rubber caps from the auto parts store for the same cost as the sealant.

Instructions are soooooo much better like this for the new guys like me. When people take pictures that are like 2" away from the part, unless you know exactly what part it is, it can be hard to decipher. Either that or not knowing exactly what the part is called, but you know where it is, etc, etc...

Thanks!!

Probably a stupid question, but something is bugging me...

I just got my car back from getting an engine rebuild and noticed that my mech re-plugged my BOV to the aircleaner. I just vented it again tonight and noticed that it's blowing air somewhat at idle and it blows a good amount when I rev the engine to ~3000 rpm. It's kinda loud, even at idle. Is this normal? I dont remember it being so loud before the rebuild... am I imagining things here??

Well, after some extensive searching, I've discovered that exactly half this forum says the stock BOV vents at idle and under vacuum and the other half says it doesnt. Have we reached a concensus on this one?

Mine vents constantly when under vacuum and only shuts up when I boost. Sound normal?

Done mine off and on, depending on the noise. The stock BOV uncoupled is LOUD, like a Rosie O'Donnell quif I suppose. Scares dogs and little children too. Any sparkletts/arrowhead 16oz. clear plastic bottle cap fits perfectly snug over the airbox fitting if you want to try it out temporarily.

hey Jonski, can you get me an overhead picture so that I can understand it better. I have A.D.D. and it's hard for me to pay attention..lol. I just need the overhead, so I can see the piping better. I think I can do it with what you gave me, but I need an overhead for my brain to work properly. ^_^

the point is to just stop the blow off valve from venting the air back through the air box. So just look at the blow off vavle, take off the tube connected to it that goes back to the air box, now the bov should just let the air out direcly to the air and it is much louder

you guys with automatics when does your bov go off?
in a auto supra with the stock bov vented you can't really hear it so I was wondering if that is because it shifts so softly

probably because it shifts right away not letting off the gas. That would be why you can't hear it in autos very much. Really only time your going to hear it is on deceleration and in neutral.

that helps a lot. also, has anybody done this with an apexi intake. I took the large diamater tube off, the one above the bov pipes, took the connection clamps off and noticed that near the rear blow off valve (or air bypass valve) my rubber connection was hardened on by the heat, i guess since its so close to the turbos and dp. has this happened with any of you guys? if so, what should i do about that. I was thinking i could just cut it off either completely or cut it short and if I needed it back on maybe autozone or pepboys would carry a piece like it? any help would be appreciated. thanks

also, does opening the pipes up cause boost creep or even the boost to plain increase. The reason i ask is because i use to have an automatic FD, that some *** totalled, and it had the piping cut short and the boost would, before i got a computer, peg up to 15 psi.

guys that was pretty simple you shouldn't really need a labeled picture for that

I didn't vent my crv I think the bov is all you need to do and I have an aftermarket intake but I got a rubber stoper from the bottom of a chair leg and forced it in to plug up the hole so nothing would get to the turbos that wasn't filtered

Once I get my car back from Haines Mazda Specialists (don't trust them much at all) I'm going to do this! It should take like 5 min. if that right? And it's pretty loud right?

I was thinking about venting the BOV, then I ran into this thread

Now I don't think I will.

if your gonna think about it that way then just slap a filter on the damn thing...geeze! it's ok to vent it, just put a filter or fabricate your own of some type and slap it on. It works and doesn't hurt anything. good grief!
