vacuum line question

Anyone have any idea why the previous owner of my car would have removed the two lines that run off the hose running from the stock airbox to the primary turbo. The two lines were cut and the nipples on the plastic elbow piece were sealed. Anyone heard of this before. The car is stock except exhaust.

There is a hard plastic "elbow" that connects the air hose to the front of the primary turbo. The elbow has two nipples on it. The previous owner disconnected the lines that are now just hanging there and tried to seal the two nipples. It looks like a total hackjob and am wondering if there is a reason someone would have done this. The air hose itself was ripped and he tried to "repair" it with caulk or something. I discovered it while trying to find an intake air leak, the car was running rough at low RPM.

One is a vent for the crankcase breather.

The other is plumbed into the oil metering nozzles IIRC.

Don't know why he'd plug either of those.

If you want a new one call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda #888-533-3400. Other than that see if you can find one in the Parts section.
