Is this vaccuum ok at idle?
So I just finished my next project after the fuel filter which I did earlier today. I did the wiring for 3 gauges I recently ordered; water temp, oil pressure and boost.
I am still waiting on the hardware for my water temp + oil pressure gauges so I do not need to do any tapping.
I did how ever get the boost gauge hooked up and running --- at idle the car pulls about 19 - 19.5 inches of mercury. Is this number about right?
I also did a few 3rd gear pulls on the highway just to test if it was reading correctly and see if I am getting the appropriate 10 - 8 - 10 boost sequence. After doing a few pulls, I concluded that when the first turbo is at full boost it is hitting approximately 11 - 12... I cant really keep my eye on the gauge to watch for the drop to 8 when the second engages, but once they are both at full boost I maintain a steady 10
The only mod the previous owner put on the car was a new muffler + straight through pipe to replace the cat. <-- Would this be the reason for the car over boosting slightly?
