VAC lines. What sizes, Where to buy?

So, I am at the point of my build where I have to route all my lines, both vacuum and coolant. This being my first build I am slightly at a loss when it comes to what is good and where to buy it.

I have searched and found many discussions on the subject but no definate answers. It seems Viton is the highest quality but also the most expensive. I was planning on going with silicon lines from sources like http://www.extremepsi.com/store/home.php?cat=1016, or http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=VCM because I am going to be placing orders with them for other things in the next week and silicon isn't going to break this college student's bank. Do you guys have any feedback on lines like these? are they good quality?

Here are some other options I found from previous threads, http://www.bakerprecision.com/hosetech.htm, http://www.hosetechniques.com/index....ndex&cPath=104. What is the best source for silicon lines at an affordable price?

As far as I can tell most of the nipples on both the LIM and UIM are .125" or 3.5mm with the exception of one which looks to be about .250"( not even sure what that one was for). The car is single turbo with nearly everything blocked off. If I am correct I should only have to run lines for Wastegate, BOV, FPR, boost gauge, and Map sensor but then again this is my first build. Are there any other sizes that I will need other than 3.5mm? And Any Idea on the length I would need? I am thinking 20-30 ft at most.

Also where can I get the little caps to block unused nipples? I can't seem to find them.

Thanks for reading the long post and for your help,
Ryan

3.5mm and 6.0mm are the two sizes you need.

Caps can be found at McMaster Carr, or you can just take a piece of vacuum hose and use a machine screw and RTV the screw in one end of the vacuum hose piece this will last ten time longer than the caps.

I would prefer the caps for a cleaner look but I might do the other option for longevity. Sucks though because I just had an order come in from McMaster Carr.

Do you guys happen to know what componets will take what size hose? I have Tial BOV, Tial MVR, Profec B Spec 2, and undecided on gauges. I would assume the 3.5mm is for most things because almost all of the nipples on the manifolds are 3.5mm.

Yep, read my guide on the vacuum lines. That should answer all your questions.

I've used Hose Techniques hose for YEARS and it's a winner.

I read your thread and it was pretty helpful, definately helped me decide on where I am getting my lines from.

One more question though. Since my car is single turbo with almost everything blocked off, do I need check valves for anything?

Again, this is my first build so I am new to a lot of this.

Nope, no check valve save the aluminum one for the PCV system. The stock Mazda valve is fine for that application.

Bumping this one up because I need a source for coolant lines. I was referred to a local place near me called NJS systems. They sell all kinds of pressure lines but I didnt call early enough to get a hold of someone there today.

Anyway, Where do you guys buy your lines from on the internet? I ask incase the place i just referred to does not have what i need.

I believe the sizes are 3/8 for the coolant lines and 5/8 for the heater lines. Correct?

I bought my vac lines from hose techniques and I also got a sample kit from them because I thought it would have some coolant lines in it aswell to try out sizes. Well, it had on coolant line which was about 10mm and I cant find anything on thier site about coolant or heater lines in any other size than that.

Does anyone have any leads?

Are the lines from mazda already cut to length? I would prefer to cut them myself as my car is far from stock.

Next question. Is there only one 6mm vacuum source? The one under the secondary fuel rail? I believe I will need 3 sources, 2 for my boostcontroller/wastegate and 1 for my BOV. If there is only one source, what are my other options?
