v8 3rd gen almost done

hey i think i cured all those overheating and vaccuum line problems.and those compression and turbo and and and and .....im sorry broken record.

no seriously though.im about done with my lt1 3rd gen.

i have to make a driveshaft for it.

waiting on my wiring harness. and building a transmission and differential mount.

working a couple problems out but itll be done shortly.

thanx jim for helping out.

i am running a complete 3 inch exhuast through the apexi n1 exhuast.wondering to see how it sounds.

i also installed some leather seats.black.

got tired of the nasty lookin r1 seats.

i will be buying a scoot hood in awhile to see how it fits with the v8 under the hood as soon as chuck gets me some measurements.

the wave of the future on this forum:

JimLab's anti-rotary consulting service, $120/hour

actually I just blew a motor myself, so maybe I will look into it...

no more "smoot" on the rear bumper, right Jim? ha

700 r4.

i will post pics when i have this scanners program ran onto the computer.

i have the disk somewhere but i lost it.have to look for it.

what i was happy to see with the 700r4 was the transmission brace fabrication.i can use the stock front chassis stiffener and weld a 90 degree angle on it and it bolts right up.it seems to be a good route i have chose for this.i am making a rear differential brace out of the rear piece of the ppf and rear chassis stiffener.this way i can have it bolted down and it will be solid.i will not need a torque arm or brace for right now,for the simple fact im not getting crazy power or torque to the wheels.

im not an anti-rotorist,and by far im not an extremist.this is completely opinionated as far as engine loving goes.its just the rotary was giving me problems every few hundred miles for the 20k miles i had on it.i could care less if a rotary engine only lasts 20k with or without mods.cuz it was a sports car and delicate and i knew this going into the deal.i just thought it would be at least 20k straight problem free miles.hell give me 5k i would be happy.

lt1's are very accesible that is why i went with this.plus it built to hell and back.and its strength can be upgraded even further.im thinking i might go with the ls1 later.cuz it saves a few pounds.but it is fragile.

i was going to go with the 3 rotor, but everyone is charging *** raping prices for an engine that needs to be rebuilt when u buy it.plus it is heavier than an lt1.jimlab has explained this a million times, and im sure i will too.

Wow..jumped off the three rotor thing huh? I haven't talked to you in a while...I found someone that beat me to the punch with a "shortened" three rotor. If you haven't seen this site, it's pretty amazing stuff.

u guys will have to tell me how load video?

i cant wait to hear what it sounds like through the exhuast system i have.

ill have about 300-310hp maybe dropping it in.so it will be a little bit b4 i can drop money into it for 550.especially the big rims.cuz im going with choice rims this time.right now i have the enkei wun guns.and i see them on vans, cant be having that.so i will either go with HRE's or forgelines.right now im blowing all my money on this conversion.

How much will you have in the conversion when its all done and drivable? Not including mods to the v8.

i know nathan im such a bad boy.nah actually ive had it for awhile.

and i had it built up midrange.i was running with the big boys for awhile.how about 15psi on a t78 daily driven?

i just thought i try this.u never know i might go to a gnx engine sometime.a turbo 6.

this was one thing i was seriously contemplatin.
which engine should i go with.and here is what i thought of each one when i looked into buying it.

20b?hmm just an extra rotor to my problem.i just want to get away from rotary for awhile.

vr4 engine?u gotta be ****** kidding me with this price.then again they are known to have bottom that is badass, just like the supras.try about 500-600 hp range.check the forums out.this is where i got my info.

gnx turbo 6?hmmm no bad thoughts.

v8?parts already made quick easy drop in.

vg30dett?dont know too much on its background, dont want to mess with it.

viper v10?hmm maybe later i didnt geel like cutting the firewall right now.i have dimensions on this engine.
it is about 2 inches taller than the lt1 and is 6 1/2 inches longer.i hope i get to be the first to try this later.it is possible with firewall treatment.u would have to take 4 1/2 inches out of at least.i still have a good 2 inches between the engine and firewall, with grannys setup.
the shifter would just need re engineering to come in the stock hole.talk about a torque monster.its like one of those firetrucks that have 200 hp but 900 ft lbs of torque.haha crazy.

TwinT78-

I can't wait to see your project get finished..... you are going to love that torque. 275's and 335's...... your car is going to be sick sick sick.....

Another engine option is the soon to be released from TA Performance aluminum GN block and newly designed heads. This project has brought in experts from all across the board to make sure the block can handle 1000hp and still be aluminum. Even Kenny Duttweiller has input in the project as he is a true HP guru.

Here are some links for those of you that may be interested. This is going to be a costly endeavour with the block itself costing around $3K!!! Then you need a crank ($1K), rods $600-800, pistons $500-750 and many many other parts. Plus machine work...... ooooof!

Enjoy:

http://www.taperformance.com/april_2002.htm

On one of the pages is a picture of a cylinder head used in the INDY Buick Motorsports program from '84-87. The intake port is big enough to put your fist into.... and they typically flow around 380cfm+. BTW- The fastest years ever in INDY racing were with a single destroked 215ci turbo'd V6 Stage 2 Buick engine..... 240mph+.

A stroked 274ci Stage 2 engine is a cast iron block (mainly) and with twin turbos Duttweiller has made in excess of 1400hp with them........

Yawn...... V6's.....

I am investigating what is involved in putting a T-56 6speed in my GN powered RX-7 for the future!

Here are some pics of my little sleeper:
