Used twins...how do I prep for install??
I bought a set of used twins as mine are blowing smoke under acceleration.
I am wonder if I need to do anything to prep these bad boys to go into the car? I think they have been sitting for awhile. I dumped some oil in the feed / return lines, and spun the wheels a bit.
Also should these things spin like really easy...or just pretty easy? I definately can't blow on them to spin, but they don't spin as easy as I thought they would. I am guessing this is because when they are in the car, they are spinning with a layer of oil all around them....is that correct?
Any way. Do I need to clean the wheels or anything, or pre-oil them or anything.
Thanks,
Patrick

They don't freely keep spinning, but they should spin easily when spun by your fingers. Check for shaft play; there should be no front to back play an very little side to side play. Also make sure that there are no foreing particles inside any of the openings.
Just make sure you put in oil into the oil pipes so that there is some coming out the other side.

There is no axial play, but there is a bit of side to side.
Keep the advice coming...

Ok...I have another question...
Are the bolts that secure the turbos to the block hard (impossible) to get out? I don't really want to strip those out.... Or are they studs with nuts?
I would really love some advice from people that have pulled their turbos before.
Thanks,
Patrick
