Removing Lower Intake How-to...

I think I have a leaking LIM gasket, and I'll probably be replacing it in the next few weeks sometime. I've read on this board that the turbos need to come off. Do I have to actually completely remove the turbos? Or just the turbo y-pipe? In my shop manual (page F-76), it looks like I don't have to remove any of the turbo components, but from looking under the hood of my car, I don't see how this would be possible.

Are there any how-to sites out there for this job? I haven't found any in my searches.

I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks,

Paul

Surely someone on this list has done the LIM gasket replacement?

turbos have to completely come off, all the way, no doubt, no question. Swallow hard, it isn't easy.

When removing the LIM from the block I try to keep everything attached to the LIM. You'll need to disconnect the electrical connections to the ACV, undo the fuel hose on the front and rear of the secondary fuel rail (leave injectors on manifold). Unplug the few vacuum lines to the ACV, the 4 that go through the LIM.

Becareful, work slowly and diligently. It isn't too bad, I have a few pics of me doing this job this summer, I don't know if I have a pic with the LIM off.
