upgrading help

I just got to the point where I can start modifing my 94. I have a straight pipe from the cat and I made a cold air induction. I will be getting a rs akimoto intercooler in a day or two. I know I need a better fuel pump, and injectors. What I don't know is what size injectors do I need? I want to be able to run in the high 12's on the stock turbos. I also know I will need a new computer but I don't have the money to do this now. So my main questions are what should I do besides the intercooler and fuel pump right know for around $300.00. I also drive my car to work in the summer, so I need it to be streetable. Any help would be Appreciated. I just ran the 1/4 mile last night for the first time ever. I was kind of disapointed with my times. It was around 86 degrees out with the humidity around 90%. My best time was 14.2 with a r/t of .612. I could not get the tires to hook up, I found out I should have slipped the clutch instead of dropping it. I was dropping it around 4,000 rpm. I know now I should have slipped ot around 3,300 rpms. Thanks again for any help.

Straight pipe from the cat, which cat, pre or mid? Watch for boost creep that is what will kill your car, run lean, BOOM.

Does anyone know about the knights sport chip on ebay for $20.00? It sounds like it probably is a waste of money to me.

i'd start with a used pettit or m2 computer which will run you between $400-500, but is well worth it. as far as the fuel pump, go with the walbro ~$90-100. you can't control larger injectors properly with the reprogrammed stock computers though and i believe a few have gone 11's on the stock 550-850 setup, so i'd say a high 12 should be easily attainable, that is if you can drive(unlike myself )

If you want a reliable daily driver, then install an intake, cat-back, downpipe, and IC and restrict your boost to 10 psi. You don't need a fuel pump or larger injectors or aftermarket ecu.

If you want to run over 10 psi, slap in a Pettit or M2 ecu and run 12 psi.

You don't need larger injectors until running over 13 psi and you don't need a bigger fuel pump until the injectors. You will need a stand-alone ecu like the PFC to control the larger injectors.

If you want to spend $300 right now, get a downpipe and forget the intercooler. Also get a water temp and boost gauge.

I already paid for the intercooler (125.00 shipped) so I still have around 300.00 to spend. If anyone knows anyone with some used parts that you think I need let me know. I thought after mods to the intake and exhaust you needed a better fuel pump.

A higher flowing fuel pump will do nothing by itself. There is a lot of bad info out there.....

Just take my advice....get a downpipe with your money. At that point, you will likely need to install a manual (or preferably electronic, but that costs $$) boost controller to maintain 10 psi. You should also really get boost and water temp gauges. IMO, I would just wait until you can afford to do all of these at the same time.

You can buy used parts from the classifieds section of the forum. I've bought several things that way.

Anyone else have any ideas for me? I don't care if I will have to wait to have other things installed first I just want to know what all I will need. I plan on doing the majority of the work this winter when the car will be off the road, so I just want to start buying what I need now. Thank you for any help.

yes you can remove it. i say eliminate the ast(or buy an aluminum one), get a down pipe and a boost gauge. 300 should be able to cover it all, if you buy used. good luck-garrett

Thanks for all the great info. I think the majority says get a down pipe and gauges. I think i will try the removal of the AST this winter along with the down pipe and gauges. Anyone else with comments would be appreciated. Thanks again.
