Upgraded PPF
Who here has an upgraded power plant frame?
I know that Mazdaspeed makes one and supposedly is 10 % stronger than the stock one.
And it looks R E Amemiya makes one that is 20% stronger?
Any comments on these and others?
Thanks.

MR.Stock. I have heard dont do it unless your
has a crack, or it broken. If you do, you may
keep breaking it. However it is cracked, I would
go with the RE one, the only bad part is you
have to send your old one to Japan, or talk to
Jason at www.jt-imports.com he can hook it up

The mazdaspeed PPF is slightly beefier than the stock one. If you've gone single turbo(or seriously BPU'd), then you'll have no problem cracking it.
You can always re-enforce the stock one by welding(or possibly rewelding)large strips of metal.

Apparently, a welded stock PPF will break again.
Doesn't welding weaken the metal?

Mr stock the weld can be stronger but the area on either side will be weaker, unless it is re heat treated ,fat chance on that. a repair needs reinforceing if there is room. Hi rotorbrain , titaniun work hardens and cost the world but would be light weight.

Corksport sells the Mazdaspeed and jt-imports sells the RE version and Mazdaseed. Supposedly they are the exact same part, rebadged and repainted. Right now, I don't trust Corksport and trust jt=imports alot. Inukai could tell you if they are the same.

Goracer, you dont trust JT-Imports?
They should be exactly the same stock, MS and RE. The difference is the added metal and strengthing in certain spots. MS is a big broke name. I would much rather go with a good reputation vise a big name. just me though.

Mazdaspeed PPF comes in red and looks very nice. I waited to get mine for 4-5 months from corksport, but they should have more in stock now.
It's not a straight bolt-on, at least not in my car. You have to grind the area where the PPF barely clears the diff. for mazdaspeed PPF. It's funny cause you think it's a mazda part and should fit just fine, but it's not. I spent the better part part of 3-4 hours just trying to fit it in by rempving driveshafts, etc.
Anyway, the car feels great afterward. Definitely a good upgrade.

Most of RE AMemeiya's parts are parts he likes from different manufacturer's that are rebadged with RE Amemiya on it...like the PPF.

How do these break so easily? My car sees over 100 hard launches on slicks every autox season and I am still on my first engine mounts and PPF. All are in great condition because when I popped the motor in May I thoroughly inspected these parts
All I do is feather the throttle if I get any hop, but man I launch with wheelspin every time and haven't busted any of these things  The diff bushings aren't dead yet either.
I do not however slam through gearshifts. Always with the clutch and feathered just enough as to not jerk the car, though always crisply when on course. On some courses it isn't unknown for me to chirp second.

Hi
RE-A originally released reinforced PPF.
After that, many manufacturers copied.
MazdaSpeed staffs sometimes visit RE-A.
They copy our diffuser as well.
But MazdaSpeed is a big big company.
They have a big capital.
RE-A just reinforces a stock PPF.
But MS remanufacture PPF from scratch.
MS can manufacture PPF from another material.
And MS PPF is better looking than ours.

I Do trust JT-Imports! He "allways" answers my questions even if they are lame and usually within a few hours. No one else has showed that excellent of customer service as Jason has at JT-Imports!
I do "NOT" trust "CORKSPORT"! They lied to me about their downpipe! I have shipped it back and i'm waiting to see if they screw me over. I allready had it jet hot coated and they have not offered to refund any money or replace it as of yet.
There he goes, there goes Inukai. He is a Deamon on wheels (for RE Amemiya). Zoom Zoom Go Inukai Go

Also I have heard that MAZDASPEED is no longer making an upgraded PPF but that the LATE model PPFs (99+) are the same as the MAZDASPEED ones, ie 10% stronger than the 93-98 oem units
