Update on the car + questions..
Ok ive been real busy with school and work and havent gotten a chance to take the car back into my mechanic... finally got around to calling him and he told me to bring it in monday... just a recap of the problems im having.. i put the stock ECU back on so i know for sure the PFC is not causing the problems... when i start my car cold it will stay on for 10 seconds and shut off... i then turn it back on and it stays on... also it has stalled out a few times while driving in traffic... for example i was in stopped traffic for a few minutes or so.. traffic started to move was shifting out of 1st and the car just died... turned it back on and it was fine...
Overall the engine just does not feel healthy it backfires ALOT, idle is pretty rough.. im just not satisfied.. my mechanic "jeff" told me he replaced all the vacuum hoses that needed replacing... ive spent over 8k at his shop and my car should be 100%.. its nowhere near 100%.. anyways im hoping he will get everything fixed up on it Monday...
Now i have questions for my modding path.. once the car is completely fixed of course... i plan on going non sequential until i save up enough to go single.. this should be happening once i get my car back.. im also buying a greddy FMIC from some1 local.. and a greddy elbow w/ BOV flange... now with that elbow does the BOV have to be on for it to work?.. When i go non sequential does the car HAVE to be tuned right away or is it ok to drive without a tune?
My mods so far are dp, cb, pettit intake kit, pulley kit, 8lb flywheel and a pfc + commander which currently isnt connected.. and in the future im going non sequential, getting a fmic and a greddy elbow.. is there anything else i should be purchasing that will be needed with my new setup?
Thx for all help in advance!!! -Eric

Sounds like your motor could possibly be low on compression or it could be as simple as a a few vaccum hoses out of place (Check the hose to the MAP sensor)... You said he replaced some vaccum lines, but how experienced with FD's is your mechanic? How many miles are on the motor? I'd have it compresssion tested if your mechanic can't get it working right this time, just to be sure... Also, as a rule of thumb you should have your car tuned with a pfc (or similar ecu) after you surpass 3 mods. You currently have intake, cb, dp, so if you want to add an IC and go non-seq you will DEFINITELY need to be tuned and running a pfc. The car may run, but you'd have to stay out of boost until you got a tune.
i'm not a fan of monkeying with the engineering such as going non-sequential, especially when you don't have the basics down yet. This is how engines blow up.
Let me go back to basics for a second.........have you tried running the codes on your car to see what's up? You can do a search on the forum to decipher the code(s) that will probably turn up.

i used all the good info in the forum and did the non sequential....got rid of some of the rats nest and simplified a lot of the vaccum. was haveing boost transition probles, now it pulls with even boost like never before. awesome!!

An ignition amp might not be a bad idea either if you plan on running higher levels of boost.
Ugh, you should have went non-sequential when you did the motor, now you'll have to pull the turbos and the rat's nest again. I would not to non-sequential without:
a) doing full non, not the "poor mans"
b) porting the wastegate
c) running a full exhaust with midpipe
I suggest you just leave things sequential until going single, unless you just like working on your car.

He has an FD of his own and specializes in rotaries... and ive seen a few other FDs there before.. theres now 800 miles on the motor. He will compression test it when i bring it in, and i plan on getting it tuned once everything is fixed until then i still have the stock ECU on.

Back when i put in my power fc I had some what the same peoblem the car would start just fine and then just shut off. I found the wires that i took out of the plug i just folded them back and taped them up. after i wrapped the pins up then taped them back the problem went away.Who is doing the work?

When i installed the PFC.. i had put the panels all back on.. then found out i needed to cut the wires.. so all the wires were still in but i was told it was ok to leave it like that... could this have been causing the stalling problem? But besides that... the car still stalls... Jeff at Maztech has been doing the work on my car, it goes back in tomorrow.
Also does anyone know what type of power i should be making with my new setup after i put the pfc back on and get it tuned? I have decided to go non sequential. Thx - Eric!

i believe my midpipe was causing boost spike, now its fine....10psi all the way to red line, i enjoy it. I dont need low end boost in tampa, only time to use boost here is on the highyway, and at the drag strip. its perfect for my needs.

Got the car back yesterday. He told me when putting the engine back in they messed up the pilot bearing, so he replaced it for free. The car hasn't stalled out yet and seems to be running good. 1000 miles on the new engine cant wait to open her up
