You most certainly need SOME sort of undertray on the car. #1 to protect the car from debris, #2 to duct air though the radiator
Agreed . Have to have undertray otherwise you could ovetheat at highway speed cruising because cool air wasn't properly directed

Your insights have been greatly appreciated and I look forward to turning to the community in the future for help.
Actually I've been sharing the info and helping individuals who PM me requesting it - my templates, measurements, places to buy parts, etc. I've sent this stuff to multiple people who have asked for it.

I haven't been motivated to publicly share everything because I'm kind of sour about how everything went down. Had so many people attacking me and my design, treating me like a scammer, making threats about suing or reporting me to the government. Kind of lost the desire to "help out" the community on this subject.

I've put together quite a few DIY guides for other things, so I'm obviously not trying to have a monopoly on anything. The LED tail modification is just something I would rather stay out of at this point, but If you want any individual help or info, feel free to contact me.

By the way, if you're going to go with a different front end, you can modify the stock rebar to accept the '99spec signals:

Well the topic of conversation was if the 99 tray was needed, not if ANY tray was needed. Otherwise my second sentence would not have stated the use of the USDM tray. Ketchup homie

Lol well thanks to everyone for the clarification, and Tom, I understand where you're coming from, and don't blame you. You are an asset to the community, and we do appreciate what you've done and the time you've put in. Well... at very least, I appreciate what you've done. I'm not sure what direction I'll be going, if it's going to be a matter of them stroking a check or what.

Alex,
Doesn't look to bad. After a week of ownership, my friends DUMB *** neighbor did the same to my FD but on the passenger side. The insurance gave me $1600 with my choice of repair shop. I did the work myself and saved $1500 that went towards my single conversion...

All will be O.K

WIN.

Might want to get the feed (shine) fenders, if you plan on upgrading in the future to larger tires, why not just do it now. I heard they fit great too. You dont have to get the front just yet if your not ready, there are some FD's on here with the 99 front and feed fenders and it looks good.

Joe, I'm still buyin those rims! I don't know how it's going to be done, as far as if they will stroke me a check or if they will make me have it done at a repair shop. I would prefer the blank check idea so that I could choose my own parts, and go about it my own way. I've been looking around and it seems like if they were to stroke me a check for 2500 or so, I'd be able to buy the front end I want. I just don't want to blow all the money on parts then not be able to get it painted. I've been shopping around for the route I want to go. I'm thinking somewhat of a hybrid setup using some shine auto feed products here... 99 spec there... who knows anymore, my mind changes with every new page I go to.

Figurin, I had considered just getting the feed fenders now, even though I won't quite have the tires to fill em up. However I'm buying Joes 17x10 5zigens and I was considering running 255/40/17 all the way around with the feed fenders. I didn't realize there were soo many additional parts to the 99spec front. The turn signals I'm not concerned with, ebay knockoffs will work, and I won't be running fog lights. so mainly I'm looking at modifying the current rebar, the undertray, the oil cooler ducts, and the bumper itself. I'm about 95% sure I'll be going with Feed style sideskirts however I've seen a couple different options and I'm not 100% set on those.
