Unstable At Acceleration And High Speeds!?

well... I've been noticing more and more that my is all over the place at higher speeds... I'm not 100% sure what it is just yet til i get it on the lift...

Symptoms
Under WOT the car torques left and have to slightly countersteer right... as I let off, the car corrects itself and I have to quickly countersteer left...

Approaching 100mph, the rear of the car starts to shake as i increase speed...

Noticed that the tranny was louder than usual, sounds like grinding in the bell housing... I push the clutch in and it's gone...

Inspection
I jacked up the car and tried to mess with the rear wheels, there is a slight movement holding the right and left of the wheel...

I noticed that the inner section of my rear tire is getting bald...

Solutions????
Replace control arm bushings and diff bushings??

Possible rear hub replacement??

Could the rear shake under high speed from bad diff bushings??

Concerning the tranny noise.. could it be a bad bearing?? pilot and/or throw out??

Anyone have any other suggestions?? I don't want to start replacing things that won't solve my problem... money is getting tight!!!

thanks guys!!!

Check your rear suspension. Toe links, control arms, bushings etc.
Start at the the toe links and control arms though, I think one of those could be your culprit. They are pretty easy to diagnose as well. Just raise the car, and start pulling on things. You'll find it.

The noise you are hearing from the clutch/tranni is your throw out bearing. You need to get an alignment and see if that helps your problems. Something is probably loose. Replacing the trailing arms/toe links are probably a good idea but I would get underneither and start man handling everything/Shaking it to see what is loose.

This (in my experience) is almost always due to incorrect tire pressure balance between the rear tires. Check this before you change anything.

I have to agree. Even just 2 PSI difference is very noticeable.

I still say a 4 wheel alignment is in order.

DING DING DING.... WINNER!!! LOL...

ok... so i went out and checked the last thing I would ever think of... but if you asked me about this problem about your car i'd say it... I had 7psi in my rear left tire... damn low pros.. you can't tell!!! I'm an idiot.. i know.. bumped up the press to 44psi and it drives straight with very little torque steer!!! woo hoo only thing is.. i only took it up to 100 mph since there are lots of cops on wed nights here.. I still need to test if the vibration over 110 are gone...

thanks for all your help guys... but i know i still need to replace the bushings and that bearing!!!

keep ya posted after i go over 110.... :ok:
