Is that baked on corrosion or is it just dirt?
I think your best bet for that is to get engine degrease and an abrillo pad and start scrubing away.

Use a degreaser and let it sit for a while. I usually do this twice then wash it down. Use an air hose if you have one to blow off all of the excess water. If the paint is really oxidized from the heat I will go over the painted surface with a 3M pad and alot of water. Flow the water over there area you want to work and rub softly. You just want to take off the oxidation not all the paint.
Once your done let it dry or hit it with an air hose again. Then hit it with a coat of your favorite wax. It will look better then new if you spend enough time on it.

The metal parts on the car should be cleaned almost in the same manner but might require a little elbow grease. Degreaser, brillo pad and elbow grease.

if ur talking about the intake u cld always try one of those softer wire bristled brushes that go on a drill, its actually shaped like a cup. It cleaned up that oxidation pretty good on mine and even shined it up a bit. But I think the wool pad route mentioned above might work better in the tighter spots.
Gdluck!

upper intake manifold-you can use a dremmel or a drill with a wire thing (can't think of the word) and it polishes pretty quickly. You'll never get it like the pros w/o taking it off your car but you can get it cleaming pretty well.

Your best bet is to invest in a Dremel Tool, you can get in those pesky nooks and crannies and clean off the corrosion on the metal. Also, I use Simple Green automotive cleaner to get the greese and gunk off. Then use Black Magic tire spray on the hoses to keep them shiny.
