Question Under dash blower removal

I was wondering if anyone has removed the blower and if it's possible to do this without removing the dash. I only get noise from setting 4 for a moment, then it stops. Sounds like there is something in the blower itself. The car has been in storage for the past two years due to an overseas assignment. It worked prior to storage. I would like to get it working again, but not looking forward to pulling the dash. Thanks for any advice.

I don't see anyway you could do this without removing the dash...or at least unbolting it.

do a search if you decide to remove it.

No you do not have to remove the dash to take the blower motor out. Just remove the door sill plate and the kick panel on the passenger side. The blower motor is held on by three screws and drops right out. You will probably have to loosen the bolts that hold on the ECU so you can move it slightly in order to get the blower motor out. I have done this serveral times as mice have built nest in mine when the car has sat for awhile.

i've taken that lower piece off without taking the dash off.... i think you have to have that off to even get to the bolts that hold the dash on, do you not????

No need to remove the dash......
I just did it two weeks ago.... it is easy....
Just remove the kick panel and ECU..... then unscrew 3 bolts with 8mm socket and unplug the connector.

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE NEGATIVE CABLE FIRST !!!

Nothing like reviving a 17 year old thread to ask a very stupid question.

Is their just one "blower motor" in the car or is their a difference between A/C and Heater blower motors? I see blower motors sometimes listed as "heater" and some as "A/C" and now I'm questioning if they are different or just labeled differently. My fan makes a horrible racket so I'm just trying to make sure I buy the right part (RHD) to fix this issue.

Thanks

Thanks! I bought this below assuming that new ones are not produced anymore, so I think I should be good when it arrives, but if it doesn't work I'll hit you up for sure.

There are aftermarket blower motors (4seasons, etc) that will fit as long as you can transfer your plastic fan over.

I know the plastic housing is different, but I don't know how different the actual motor assembly is. From the pictures on this listing it looks like the motor profile is a little different.

That said, places like 4seasons make tons of stuff and if you're so inclined it never hurts to reach out and ask them what they think.

Bringing this thread back again as it was the first that popped up when I searched for how to take apart the blower fan. My blower box was a mouse hotel for some time so I really wanted to get in there and deep clean everything.

This was my solution for holding the fan and motor. From there I used a heat gun to warm up the plastic a little bit just to make sure it was more malleable, and just tapping the shaft with a hammer and punch until it all separated. The bottom side of the fan body was completely black and the top of the motor housing also had some crud built up on it. After giving everything a deep clean and re-greasing everything the needed to be, everything went back together and worked without issue. If your car sat has for an extended period of time or might have had any previous tenants, I highly recommend cleaning the fan and the whole blower box if possible.
