ULTRA Shift Indicator , anyone tried it?

I've been wondering about this device for a while. Originally i thought its for automatic transmission, but after seeing it in other japanese tuner cars and how the wired is hooked up to RPM and Speed signal + MT signal? it seems like its made for all types of transmission.

Do anyone know this or have experience with this product on their FD?

wiring diagram from top:
- power
- RPM
- Speed
- Manual Transmission signal
- ground

why bother? the fd has a shift indicator built into it already, it buzzes at the redline

the only reason to use something like this is to maybe help identify if you are misshifting in a race, it might prevent a misshift. other than that, it's useless in these cars.

That buzzing is to indicate overboost.

The Rx-8 has the RPM buzzer.

You really shouldn't need anything more than the car already has. Another waste of money to be added to the list:

1. Loud BOV's
2. Turbo timers
3. Shift Indicator
4. Headlight fluid

I'm sure there is more

Nope. There is no boost buzzer. Buzzer is for rpm.

What, nah man, the buzzing in the FD is for High RPM or just optimal shift time. Fuel cut is for over boost .

EDIT: damn you to hell Adam

It's ment for serious racers using sequential shifters. Very common on the street and race scene in Japan.

Shifters like this one

haha, yes there are tons... Like

- a fully polished engine...
- Greddy hard pipes
- electronic boost controller
- Apexi REV/Speed meter
- Tire pressure monitor
- strobe lights
- disco ball
- .. too much to list

if you like the car to be in its purest form... then ofcourse gadgets are not for you

I personally don't like unecessary things in the car either, but this might help not to mis-shift before you engage your clutch?? IMO.. if it's clean/tastefully installed, this little device seems like it can be nice feature to add to the car.
