Uim/lim

I am still pretty new to RX7's. Having come from 5.0L mustangs they had all kinds of aftermarket manifolds that bolted up. I have searched and have yet to find any here.

Are they not available or are they just not a common piece for people to upgrade on a twin turbo.

The closest things I have seen is a guy selling a LIM who had it modified......

Any input?

the stock UIM flows pretty good on the FD. some delete the secondary butterflies and others go one step further and remove the center divider from the two top wholes. I run an UIM without the secondary butterflies.

it's the LIM that has some issues. The GroundZero LIM is very common these days... it's ~ 500.00 and offers better flow to the housings than stock. It's often called the Xcessive manifold that widebodyseven mentioned.

What a bout the 13b intakes? If you guys had to rank them in order of best performance how would it go?

Also would you advise on having the stock pieces ported/honed before getting an aftermarket unit?

I wouldnt spend one second with the stock LIM, I'd toss it in the trash and pick up a GZ unit. I believe it'll fit with the BNRs but you may have to make some 'mods' with a die grinder

Hogan's Racing Manifolds, Santa Maria, Ca. builds sheet metal manifolds for the 13B REW if you want to go that direction

Mega $$ however.

ttmott those are pretty pricey :o

Rich, after reading a bout 16 pages of the ground zero LIM, I have not seen a single person say they fit with the BNR. Many people said they had to do some tweaking so it would work with a single turbo application.

Any confirmed guys out there?

Ack I just noticed you had the GZ LIM in 2007. When did you switch to a single turbo?

The GZ LIM moves the UIM forward an inch or so. You need to modify your oil filler and stock twins also need a little work to fit. It can all be done (There is even a thread about it somewhere) but it's more built to go with a single turbo setup. It is a very nice piece though!

The bang $ for the buck isn't in the intake manifold. Plus if you are on stock twins, its a serious pita to install something like the GZ LIM with minimal power gain.

There are two members on Rotary car club who are using the GZ LIM with the stock twins. Here's one http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...ead.php?t=5496. Dan Chadwick's car has a link in that thread for his car too. From reading these a while ago I believe all that has to be done is that some material needs to be taken off the GZ LIM and the UIM bracket needs to be modified as the GZ LIM moves the UIM forward an inch or so.

My mods are slightly more than stock.

ported motor
intercooler
1300 secondary injectors
high flow cat
rb exhaust
down pipe
hks twin power
light weight flywheel
Bully clutch
denso fuel pump with fuel mod
fluidyne rad
greddy profec b 2
BNR stage 3 turbos
power fc
Have a cheap water/meth kit but need to replace it.

Basically I started this thread because I wanted to remove the next cork in the system. Figuring the manifolds and throttle body. Now that I have read more on the GZ unit I like the concept of it possible delivering more performance AND safety. The only draw backs are of course the fit and emissions as my car is still passing the E tests.....

The GZ LIM has no provisions for emissions equipment. No ACV, no EGR, and I dont believe the air pump will fit. That said, if you just run an air hose straight to the cat and use an electric air pump you would probably pass the e-test sniffer test, but might fail a visual depending on how thorough they are.

If you read the thread, there is a bit more involved than what you listed.
