Type of Screws to use to install a Gotham Racing Commander Holder?

Got a gotham racing commander holder on it's way, but it was from another forum member and he didn't have the screws with it. Just curious if anyone has the screw size and thread type to use for install. I hear you have to remove the glove box to install it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Darren-

When I got mine it came with two screws about an inch in length or smaller, you can find them at home depot I'm sure. Yes you have to remove the glove box and just align the end of holder with the end on the dash, once you take off the glove box you'll see what I mean and then screw it in place. If you need pictures let me know, I'll take some of mine to show you.

Ya, its about a 1inch screw. Not a wood screw though. You just go through the plastic. If you have a FD without the passenger side air bag then all you do is press in on the sides to unhinge it and just let the glovebox drop and you can screw it in.

I just got one of these and misplaced the instructions and screws.
I have a 93 non airbag and I dropped the glove box of its hinge.
But I am confused because I do not see any holes to mount this.

Do you have to drill holes or use self tapping screws and screw them into the plastic??

I'm the one who typed up the instructions for the Gotham kit, if you call the shop I'm sure Alex will send you another set of instruction and self-tapping screws

Just test fit the arm of the holder along the left seam where the glove box closed, IIRC there is a nice flat interior corner you can line it up against. slide it forward and backward until the depth of the holder is where you want it, I also bend the arm a bit so that the commander will face towards the driver.

cool so I basically make holes with the self tapping screws on the flat interior corner you speak of...correct?

Screws that have the point on them so they can make their own hole and threading. In other words you do not need to drill and tap a hole for them.

I had to tweak mine slightly as well, but over all installation didn't take 10 minutes, and most of that was me trying to bend the holder.....that **** is tough.

Mine came used too. IIRC.....#8 self-taping ~1" long. I went with a hex-head.

My holder was used with three holes pre-drilled. I'm assuming these are "factory" holes, though the locations seemed kind of odd. It's pretty solid but I may add a 4th. Just open the glove box, pinch the two "stops" toward each other and allow the box to drop down all the way. Line the bracket up with the plastic as seen in the pics and secure. And my car is a 93 (no air bag). If yours is newer it might be different.

Hey guys, I have RHD FD, do they sell backets to suit RHD cars? Or is it possible to bend it the other way?

The Gotham one would prob still work, but RHDJapan.com has some designed for right hand drive cars.

So where do you mount this on 94+ car's? There is a lip on the left side of the glove compartment which will not allow it to close if you install the holder in there... and the material on the side of the center console is not sturdy enough to hold the screws in place in order to support the holder and commander...

Any suggestions on how to go about this with the 94-95 models?
