Two stock intercoolers mounted in FD?

I'm curious if it would work to the same effect as an aftermarket intercooler if I were to jerry-rig two stock ones and use a Y piping. Any one heard of it done? Am I way off base?

I don't believe it would be worth the trouble. The stock IC is inefficient, so two would only be marginally more efficient. It would probably slow the air down to much as well going from one into another.

it would be a compete waste of time and money, IMO. it would not be a significant improvement over stock.

You've got no where to mount it, if you could find a place that gives it enough air flow it's not a terrible idea.

You would double the pressure drop -- bad idea. Well, that is what you would get if you mounted them in series.

If you mounted them in parallel (half the air goes through each one) it would be much better than stock. But it still sounds like a hell of a lot of trouble for a marginal improvement. Totally not worth it, IMHO.

LMFAO!!

i had a similar idea at one point, but opted for a large isuzu NPR IC. my idea was to take 2 stock IC's, take the plastic endtanks off, fab some new endtanks and weld the 2 side by side. after stripping off the endtanks, i just said F it!, its not worth it. the size of the NPR is still about 3-4X the size of 2 oem IC's next to eachother.
