Two New Problems After the Fd winter break please help
Hi my fd has two new problem
1.The cooling fan will not turn off. After driving the car and shuting it off the fans will come on and will keep on till teh battery goes died. I don't have the fan mod done.
2.I can't floor the gas with out the car jerking. the car runs good but when i get on the gas hard the car will start jerking and not go. My mod are listed below but the only part not intaled is the dp. Im thinking its a fuel problem. I also change the spark plugs but didn't fix the problem. But i didn't change the wire and there old. I change the fuel fitter about 10k ago.
If i can fix the car by this weekend im going to the dealer to get it fixed. Or if any one know a place in ct to get it fixed.
Thanks Mark T.

go to the regional section for the northeast. there is a sticky with all the local mechanics. please stay away from the dealer. it might be something as simple as the fuel needing to be siphoned out and new fuel added.
not sure about the fans. did they used to stay on after you shut the car down?

thanks for the reply...i was thinking it was bad gas at first but just put a full tank in two 2 days ago and didn't do anything.
The fan before some times stand on for a bit but shut off after about 10 mins.
As for the relays i swithed the cooling relay with the abs one and did the same thing. are you talking about the yellow ones near the battery? and what is the limp mode?
Thank guys

I had the same problem with my fans. Long story short and $600 dollars later, bad ECU and alternator and a whole lot of electronics issues. Sorry to scare you. I can type out what my bill from the auto electrian said, but I'm not sure if it will help you unless you know a lot about the electronics system. I also had problems with the car shutting off every time I hit the brakes and bad voltage. When the car would run, the car would also jerk like that but I think that ended up being attributed to vacuum lines...probably some of the bad ECU too.
Edit: Oh and a quick fix I used to use when I had the issue - Just take out the fuse for the fans every time you get in/out of your car. Keeps the battery from dying.

The fan control system is actually VERY simple. Some time with a multimeter and you should be able to find some answers. Could be the fan relays - there's a group of 4 relays by the passenger shock tower that control the fans. My neighbor had constant fan running problems, and a new set of relays did the trick.
BigBoosting, I think you had a bunch of problems at the same time. Either that or a greedy mechanic
. That's not typical - again, the system is VERY simple.

i had a similar fan problem and it turned out a wire on the harness near the ecu got crushed when a new ecu was installed. the thing would run until my battery was dead too. just a though if you've replaced/messed with the ecu lately.

the bucking sounds like limp mode, if it revs fine on light throttle but misfires on wot, its limping.
Check all the things mentioned here though. might be vaccum lines bad gas just gotta go through the car till you find it or take it to a rotary shop. The dealer will most likely screw it up even more.
there really is no place in CT that works on rx7s. There are a few shops in NYC though. I have dealt with www.kdrotary.com several times and highly recommend them. They are in PA though.
Where in CT are u from?

Prospect.. i met you one time at berlin turnpike...My car was also red and i had the racing beat lip and mazdaspeed wing with the bbs rims. I when today to start it and the battery was died, so i charged it and started it up. And it didn't jerk at all and pulled very hard. Im going to see in the morning if the battery is died and if so im going to be changing the relays.
Thanks Mark T.
