Unhappy Twitching when I floor it!!

Need help, I bought my 94 RX7 about a month ago. I foolishly ran it out of petrol DOH! but it started back up. However now it twitches when I boot it. If I drive about half throttle it is fine, anything more and it feels like its not getting any fuel through and jumps on and off. I have had it serviced and fuel filter changed. A quick diagnostics showed it was the fuel pump relay, but this has been replaced and it is still doing it!!!!

Anyone got any ideas???

I'm not sure what your problem is, but you should never beat on your car with 1/4 tank or less. My friend blew the motor in a stock FD on an autox course that way due to fuel slosh.

sounds like your fuel filter is clogged. replace quickly! i have heard that a clogged fuel filter will contribute to the engine running lean and blowing an apex seal. do a search and keep out of the full throttle runs till you replace the fuel filter.

check your injectors too. I had a leaky one at one time. Do you smell gasonline? If not just check your fuel system all over again incase something wasn't done right or they didn't change something. They can be sneaky. Just make sure everything is working even if you say that it was just changed. And check the grounds to your fuel pump, make sure that the fuel pump is working properly you may have a faulty one.

Check the filter. Did you watch them replace it? THen chances are they didn't, due to how difficult it is to get to. Also, like RX7SpiritR said, check your fuel pump. If Rob Robinette's 'How To' on replacing the fuel filter, it talks about a way to run the fuel pump with the car off by jumpering out some wires. I would tr that, that way you can see if it's just a ground. Let me know if that helps.

even if they did it, it probably got all kinds of **** in it from running the car empty. its not that much money. just redo it. once you have replace the filter, dump in some chevron w/ techron fuel injection cleaner or redline fi cleaner and you should be good to go.

This is jsut a guess. But isn't that what the car acts like if you dont prime the system after changing the fuel filter? So, if you one ran out of gas; would the fuel system ahve to be primed?

Just a guess.

Thanks for all the advice people!! I have now sorted it. I had the fuel pump relay and main engine relays out. and the ecu still thought there was a fault with the fuel pump relay. So disconnected the battery and put my foot on the brake to reset the ecu. Hey presto, back to full power

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!
