Twin turbo upgrade
Hey guys
I wanna upgrade my stock 2002 twins for something bigger, i dont wanna go on a single.
I came across the BNR stage 3 and the knightsports setup
Has anyone used them? any comments on them ?
any real difference ?
Or has anyone anything else? that is recommended?
Thanks

Hey Con,
The BNR Stage III's def. have a lot of feedback on this forum.
As for JDM options, there are both the Knightsports RF-420s (420PS) and the Border twins which have been around for SEVERAL years now. Haven't heard any negative feedback on 'em to date, although the Knightsports units tend to be more popular due to price (the Border twins are a wee bit expensive)... The KS are re-worked OEM turbos (like the BNRs), while the Border kit is a FULL true bolt-on twin turbo kit, all new from the ground-up (hence the price). It's the only kit that I know that's boasted SERIOUS hp #s... It uses two internally gated Apex (IHI) Ax53b70 P25 Ball bearing turbos, which according to Apex'i USA are good for approximately 350-375hp a piece.

is it a US product or japanese?
Im currently running on a 3 row greddy SMIC
the hks reloaded intake and the twin maxim works downpipe, i will basically have to throw them away and get bigger ones for this application right?

Con,
- It's Japanese (Border Racing is a Japanese tuner company; one of the larger ones actually with VERY high quality products).
- They offer two options:
1) Everything pictured above (manifold, extension pipe, front pipe, air suction intake, and all misc hardware, fittings, etc) WITH the turbos: $8000+
2) Everything pictured above WITHOUT the turbos (ie "bring your own turbos": $5000
These are rough prices, not exact price quotes. And as I mentioned (and seen in the pics) the kit comes w/ an intake, so you wouldn't need the HKS intake you're currently running. And yes, this is a full non-sequential kit.
Thanks,

I recently installed a street ported 13b-rew with BNR stage 3's in a customers car and tuned it. Car put down 445rwhp @ 18 lbs of boost running sequential. I would recommend the BNR stage 3 for the price.

Thanks though Ramy
Loved to see that dyno sheet. Not necessarily throwing a BS flag, but that's the highest rwhp I've seen with stock configured turbos.
Please post more info.
What has been done to that engine internally?
Dyno Sheet?
Internally the motor is basically stock with a medium street port. I ported and gasket matched the LIM & UIM. All emission crap removed. Here is a basic list of mods that relates to power:
BNR stage 3 Turbos
3" downpipe, highflow cat and Pettit Muffler
550cc / 1300cc injectors
Nipondenso Fuel Pump
Stock ignition
9L/9T plugs
Pettit Cool charge intake
ASP Large IC
Greddy elbow
Power FC
Greddy Type S boost controller
Pettit underdrive pully set

Data Logit with FC-Edit. Yes you can, this was before I made some adjustments to reduce the power loss at transition.
