Twin turbo setup

I was wondering if anyone upgrades their FD with 2 bigger turbos instead of going single. And if so what size would be the next step from the original size of the 13B.

sr..pettit..m2...all make up graded twin setups..
if your looking for a setup with twin turbos on a tubular manififold( like turbostreetfighters custom ones)
it all depends on how much power u want..
i think ive seen twin tdo6 if i remember right...but for the cost u might as well go single if your goin that crazy,or hp hungry

If You Have To Ask You Cant Afford it...bottomline

what do u have done to your car so far?
i mean 15 psi on the stock twins fully moded out was fast, im goin single as we speak..i couldnt imagine how much hp u want....

whats your re-alistic goal for hp?
600+?
i mean the sr-pettit and m2 are all good suposidly up to arround 400+

I don't know how much power I want right now. My Touring is stock. I'm trying to keep my options open.

Does anyone have numbers on any of the upgraded twins? I know Pettit states 15-20% more flow, but what does that equate to? How much more Hp/torque over stock w/ similar setup, 15hp, 25, ????. No need to post if you have this or that then you can make so much HP. I have everything I need to get top performance out of twins. SO just comparing stockers to any of the above.

Thanks,
Steve

lmao your kidding me right...your car is bone stock and your looking into custom built twins on tubular manifolds...
put it this way your looking arround 10k$ to take your car from bone stock to a single turbo with a ported engine...
i think u should try to mod the car first and see if u can handle/like the aditional power...theres a huge difference between a stock fd...a highly moded fd and then another leap to a 500+rwhp monster...

sorry to crush your dreams kid but start small and work up

Well I'm getting a turbo timer soon. My birthday is comming up so I hope to get enough money for a new Apex'i intake. A speed shop has talked me into stronger apex seals too. Wish me luck....

Ryan, first...do some research. it will help a lot.

going from a bone stock FD to single turbo will cost upwards of $10K. doing a custom twin setup, im assuming you're looking at $13K+. your car is stock right now, so do some bolt ons then see where you want to go.

BTW, in the "whats the fastest youve taken your FD" thread...wasnt it you that said "105...im affraid im gonna loose it" or something like that. so what the hell are you gonna do with 500+ RWHP??

exactly. have you ever gotten a ride in a car with over 575 horsepower?? coming from someone whos affraid of going over 105, you will **** your pants the first time you nail the gas. not to mention panic and do something stupid totaling your car.

also, this "speed shop" doesnt know ****. honestly, i think 3mm seals is just an excuse for bad tuning. the stock 2mm seals will take all the abuse you give them, given the car is tuned properly.

if you want more power and still retain 2 turbos, how about you BPU your car first?? see if that doesnt make you **** your pants, then move on to a higher level.

Like the others are saying mod the car little by little first, at least get full exhaust, intake, and ecu, then you should think about going for more power when you get used to that. Seriously you could really hurt yourself if you go from a BONE stock FD to one with anywhere near 500hp.. Which is what you'd be getting out of two big turbos on a custom manifold.

Don't start with the turbos and definitely don't start with apex seals (you have to tear the whole engine down for that) - and your engine is I guess fine right now. As earlier stated start with your intake and turbo timer (adds life to turbos) then go with dp, exhaust, and ecu. This will put you at 260-275 rwhp which is over 300 flywheel hp and be enough to soil your Levis. When I went from stock to this setup I thought I had a Lamborghini in my hands. After you do the other bolt-ons (intercooler, midpipe or hi-flo cat, ect.) then worry about your turbos. I'd probably go with M2's ball-bearing twins though.

man o man

this thread is funny.

hehehe

I remember my first few months in my fd....hahah...oh for the good old days before I knew what would happen to my wallet....before I knew what I was getting into.

Im sure you all remember those days....back when I thought my stock fd would handle new vettes...new 911s...mmmmm....if only I could go back and do it all again.

jason

PS..beware any shop that wants you to replace your seals while they are still good..hahaha...

check this site www.scuderiaciriani.com READ ABOUT ALL YOUR MOD POSSIBLITIES AND THEN START LOOKING INTO SPENDING MONEY...one wrong mod and you will be getting those unneeded seals after all...all mods must be done in the correct order...listen to the guys around here...they know their ****. had i listened better i would have a lot more dough in the bank

Hey ARTGUY....your stock to near stock FD SHOULD handle a new vette or 911!!! At autocrosses, I could waste new 911s and corvettes. I could also beat them in Drag racing(although it was always close). My car was stock except for catback too. Was your car running right? I TOTALLY AGREE about wishing I knew what I was getting into. I did not expect to turn into such an RX-7 psycho and dump 100% of my money into it!!! Oh well....I cant imagine driving any other sports car. (Cuz nuthin comes close! hehe)

Sorry for goin' off topic above, so heres my input Ryan:
These are my suggested mods that you would must have before you could even think of upgrading your turbos:
1. Catback, Midpipe with High Flow cat, Downpipe
2. "true" Cold Air Induction
3. Greddy Power FC and commander
4. Upgraded SMIC (Stock Mount Intercooler)
5. All Reliability mods, especially upgrading the cooling system and an aluminum AST (Air Seperator Tank)

Also....get a boost guage and A/F guage right now...so you know u are running safe levels. After you have all these mods...and are in the very low 12's rethink your power needs and see if you still think you can handle upgraded twins. M2 Ball Bearing Twins are in my distant future. By the way, is this car your daily driver? If so...keep it almost stock man, just install the reliability mods cold air and catback. You dont wanna be driving a 350-400 hp finely tuned Sports car everyday.

when did greddy make a power fc? haha I'm sorry I had to. Anyway red95t-rex is right..if the rx is your only car you don't want it too modded. I had a really modded 300z as my only car and it was a nightmare. plus you start to really take the power for granted and its less fun if you drive the car all the time.
