Here is some food for thought on Auto FD's and Power FC
For people that dont no you CAN install a Power FC in a Auto FD BUT you will loose the hold button.
Here is my solution to this problem,
We piggy back alot of Fuel computers why not piggy back the stock Ecu with the Power FC, Let me Explane.
Power FC- is connected just like normal ( All inputs and all Outputs Normal )
Stock ECU- Connect only the inputs and the outputs that go the the Auto Trans Ecu
(RPM,SPEED,TPS,POWER,IGNITON,INTAKE TEMP, ECT.)
This should trick the ecu, so that it's thinking it is still connected to the engine correctly, just the out puts ( Fuel, Spark ) are not being used. And the best part the ecu will tell the Trans Ecu what it needs.
This is just the start, still need to work out what inputs are NEEDed to run the trans ecu correctly. This should alow the best of both world.
Please Dont Flame
But i would like to Get some feedback on this type of Project
I will be trying this project on my FD and will hopefully be able to offer adapter for people just to plug and play this with there cars.
Would really like to hear from the Auto trans people running a PFC and if they would like this as a Upgrade

nice try but this has already been done. a search through the archives should pull up the relevant posts. Chuck at rotary extreme has tried this as well. If you want a "piggyback" computer, you can get a greddy emanage or PFS PMS (EFI systems), or various others. People have piggybacked other standalones too, like the haltech. Keep up the good work. A little research can help you stop wasting time reinventing the wheel. I still say the best solution is PFC+PCS TCU. Good luck. You might also try the ATFD group at yahoo groups.
I why would you want to spend another 300+ dollars for a computer, when you can make you own harness for dam near free.
I didn't say it was the cheapest, it's the best. Besides that, I don't think the PFC stock experiment worked. Email chuck at rotaryextreme and ask him about it. If you want cheapest go with a piggyback-emanage or PFS PMC.
Most effective solution is still to swap. I thought my car was nice as an auto, considering I could walk away from lightly modded LS1's but once the manual went it the car felt like a stick of dynamite. The automatic isnt very strong, it is heavy and even with the hold feature the shifts are sluggish at best. I see no advantage to keeping the auto unless you just really cannot drive a manual.
