ID'ing Turbos...
I was just wondering if there is any way to visualy see the diffrence in 99 twins and stock or is it just how their made interinaly, If so what should I look for on the turbos to tell their 99specs... example what are these stockers or 99's
thanks
thanks
They look like they may be non-SpirtR/RZ 99' spec or freshly built series6 turbos that come factory on the car.
The '99spec' turbos are abeit confusing because the same turbos that came on ours were offered in 99-02 as well -- its the RZ and Spirit R models that recieved the 280hp turbos which are refered as '99 spec'.
The differance came in an abraidable seal between the turbo housing and the turbine itself which is visable as a black plastic ring on the turbo inlets.

If the part number starts with "N3A1", then they're US-spec stock turbos. If it starts with "N3C1", they're the Japan-spec "265bhp" turbos. If it starts with "N3G1", they're the RZ "280bhp" turbos.
