BC Turn Signal R,R stays lit

It seems like I am not having any luck

I have searched the forum all night looking for something along the same lines that of my problem but to no avail. So when ever I turn my lights on the right rear turn bulb lights up at half brightness, turn signals work fine in either direction, hazards work, I have checked the rear bulbs and they are correct. The only thing I can think of is there is some voltage bleeding from CPU no.2 maybe a bad diode but that should cause some other issues I would think.

I have poked my head under the dash looking for CPU no.2, as it is not in the kick panel on the drivers side ( my car is a 93 JDM ) The cpu seems to be up under the drivers dash mounted just behind the steering wheel. It has a F-100 on it. Anyone know if these are interchangeable with North American cpu's?

Figures this would happen as I have to get it into the shop for an inspection on Monday >.<

Thanks
Mike

Edit, Ok I went out just to make sure I was not forgetting anything, all my bulbs work if hazards or left/right turn are going, but when I have the signals on or the hazards on the right rear light goes complete out during its cycle so it is on-off-on-off (turn signal or hazard flash) yet when i turn the signals off the light goes to half brightness. So on that I am pretty sure it is a CPU no.2 problem.

So does anyone know if the JDM one is interchangeable with a north american one?

Ok i have some more information for you guys, I have taken the cpu apart and there are some traces that look like that got hot, yet there is full continuity between the points on the board, I have a pic of them here if you guys want to see it. I am at a lose as to what could be causing this issue.

I may have a fix in mind I am going to try it this weekend, I'll let you all know if it works out.

Make sure to check the dumb stuff too. Pull the bulb and make sure it's the correct bulb, make sure the wiring to the tailight hasn't been monkeyed with, etc.

Thanks Dale, that is the first thing I checked, then I double checked cause well thats always how it goes lol. Now I have pulled the plug off the flasher in CPU no2 and I have pulled the plug off of the hazard switch and still the tail lights light up with that right turn signal coming on at half brightness. I checked at the bulb for voltage and it reads 5.62v, so now with both of those problem areas in the clear I am really at a loss, I am going to jump into the electrical diagrams again and see if I can not track it down >.<

Also just a side note, I have always loved these cars and as such I always thought people would treat them with respect, well who ever owned this one before me needs to be shot or kicked, bastards and busting plastic ect.

Alright I am still at a loss so I am going to trace the wiring inside the car back to the tail light, if I can not find the problem I am going to tap off of the front turn signal, run that wire into pin 86 of a 5 pin relay, ground out pin 85 of the relay run fused IGN to pin 30, and run a wire from the rear tail light to pin 87 after I disconnect the factory wire to the rear light. This set up should allow me to have functional turn and hazard while keeping the light off while it it not being used. Just for clarity I will re type the pin out.

5 pin relay (Bosch number 0332209-150)
PIN 86 front turn signal
PIN 85 Ground
PIN 30 Fused IGN
PIN 87 rear turn Signal (Disconnect from factory wire before hooking this up)

I will let you guys know how it goes

My son's car did something like this, very erratic and didn't make sense. I found the inside of the socket where the bulbs plugged in was rusted very bad, both front indicators. I rolled up some sand paper and went to town. That fixed the problem. I also put some battery conductive grease inside to prevent it happening again. Its worked fine now almost a year.

I have been in and out all the connectors for just that, I have also added some dielectric grease to them as well, funny thing is the sockets look brand new, although they are the Efini style tail lights (the round ones). I will see what happens when I try this relay fix.

I FOUND IT!!!!!!

Ok so here is what I have found, I figured before i start cutting and splicing I would take the time and trace the harness all the way back to the car, I started at cpu no1/ fuse panel threw the multi meter on the green/white (right turn signal) hit the hazards and boom full 12v in the flash sequence, so i figured well if it is a problem up here if I turn on the marker lights I should see 5.62v, so I tried that and nothing. So now I am really scratching my head (I think I might have another bald spot from scratching so hard lol) So I traced the wiring back about 2 feet and tried again same thing, so i now decide to pull the back interior trim out and see whats going on there, low and behold some one decided to put some kind of wiring modual in ( all it says on it is bad kind of suiting) So I trace the wires from it, it is inline of my right signal, taking power from my tail lights, so now that I have this traced out and the problem fixed I am going to try to figure out WTH this thing is.

Thank you all for your help!

Mike
